I see all the amazing reviews, and it's what brought me to this restaurant. I think the sushi was good, and worth visiting, but I wouldn't say it's one of the top sushi places I've been. It's good, and the self ordering system it pretty...More

Fast, fresh and delicious. Great screen order system at the table and everything was superb. We walked in at about 6pm and when we left there was a line to get in up the stairs and out the door. There are flashier and more formal...More

It's actually an underground restaurant even though the door is ground level. It was interesting to enter, but if there is a line you have to wait long the narrow stairs. They have both bar seating and table seating, but when I went, the staff...More

the best sushi still served in Japan. Very month I travel to Japan and a least once I get to go for sushi. Don't go of sushi on Sundays since the fish market is closed and you may not get fresh fish on your table!

Chojiro has wonderful staff and amazing sushi at a great price! We waited between 30-60 minutes both times we went and we rarely decide to wait in lines for restaurants, but it was definitely worth it. Try going during times that aren't typically busy (Google...More

Upon the recommendation of a local expert, we tried multiple times to go by but each time there was a long line we did not wish to wait. It must be great to have such attraction!

Great restaurant, kind people and orders came super fast. The loud jazz music was the only small downside.

Easy on the wallet for the level of tastiness and freshness they provide. Quick order and arrival of food. Has excellent translations for English, Korean and Chinese; ordered through an ipad. No Japanese speaking friends necessary.

Pontocho
Though small by comparison, Pontocho is one of Kyoto's
most spirited and memorable neighborhoods. A narrow
street straddling the Kamogawa River, it is Kyoto's
busiest nightlife spot. When darkness falls,
Pontocho's many signs and lanterns bolt to life,
making the area glow with invitations to passers-by to
come inside and pull up a chair. Its restaurants and
bars sprawl onto the riverbank, providing a friendly

The restaurant is small, so you would occupy the whole dining area...maybe not the place for such a group
