My sushi was some of the best I had in Japan, and it was well priced! Would highly recommend if you're looking for great sushi for an amazing value. It's right by the food market, so after you walk through, go here for awesome food.

Waited in line for 30 minutes before we were seated. The service was really quick, seems like a dishes were ready before we ordered it. The sushi was average and expensive, maybe worst we had in Japan. Definitely doesn't worth the waiting time and price.

This restaurant is very conveniently located in the core shopping area and gets frequented by many tourists. Perhaps that would explain why the quality seems to have declined since I was last here two years ago. I ordered the seasonal recommendations sushi set as well as salmon and medium fatty tuna sashimi. Both arrived practically warm. Fish quality was below... More

Very nice sushi restaurant in the basement opposite the Daimaru store. English menus available, service was fast and friendly and when I asked for some extra pickled ginger the waitress brought a whole cup of it! There was no available space in the counter so we were seated on a table. Crowd was mixed, locals and tourists. A bit on... More

We've been lucky to be among the first people in the qeue when they opened for dinner at 5 pm, so we were seatted at the sushi bar. Great experience to see how your sashimi is made and served to you by the japanese chef. Very good fish quality, and really tasty. Totally recommend the place.

This was fine, but by far the most average sushi we ate on our trip, and not a great atmosphere. Also did not seem like a very good value. Closed up earlier than noted in guides as well (by 9pm, Not 10). Would have liked to find someplace more interesting.

Came here a few days ago. Not sure how this restaurant made it on Trip Advisor. The food was okay. Sushi was fresh but it was nothing special. The service was below par. Felt like I was in an all you can eat sushi restaurant except I didn't get all you can eat and I paid nearly 5x more. There... More

This is part of the big Sushi sei chain. It is located in the upscale shopping area of Kyoto in the basement of Daimaru department store. The sushi is pretty good but nothing special. Service is a bit erratic. I enjoyed Kappasushi much better. Not sure I will go back

Lonely Planet recommended this place. We weren't impressed. The sushi selection in the mixed plate (moriawase) was subpar. They seated and then they disappeared.

Sushis are really good but unfortunately we felt very unwelcome. Indeed, it looks like the chefs don't like foreigners and acted really rudely during all the diner: it kind of ruined our diner even if the food was really good. He didn't act the same way with Japanese people: to avoid if you're a tourist!
