This is a super decent ramen. It was a late dinner and we were not planning to come here, except that it was the only place near the castle with available seats. As soon as we entered, another crowd of visitors filled all seats. Unfortunately,...my companions were (rather Japan-ignorant) German cousins who dined here against their will. Their negative mood spoiled my good ramen. I would’t travel from the city centre to this place, but castle-wise, it’s a great choice.More

We found this great little ramen restaurant across the street from the Nijo Castle on our way back to the Crown Plaza Hotel. You order from what reminds me of an older vending machine. It has an english button and the staff was friendly and...willing to help. The ramon was fantastic as was the fried chicken and gyoza (dumplings). We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much we went back twice.More

Great Ramon, fried chicken, gyoza and the pork was so soft. Service is quick, easy and friendly, love these places that you order from a machine and the machine has an English button. Definitely recommend a visit if you want a great cheap meal.

After visiting Kinkakuji and Ryoanji, our next stop was Nijo Castle, but it was getting to be late afternoon and we needed food! The bus dropped us off across from the castle and we proceeded to walk down the street and the first restaurant we...saw was a ramen shop, which was nice because it had just started to rain. There were a couple of open tables so we were seated quickly. There were English menus so we looked through the different items. My wife ordered one of the ramen bowls and I ordered the pork and rice bowl. The food came quickly and we both the ramen and rice bowl hit the spot, which fueled us up for the rest of the day. Service was friendly and quick.More

Staff are a bit rude, good food however noodles are a bit off for my tasting. Roast pork is yum and highly recommend. Cheap also.

Visited here for lunch. Ordered medium vegetable ramen and the large shoyo ramen. The portion sizes were adequate. The noodles were cooked right. However the broth was too thick and the meat was cold, that didn't meet expectations. Additionally, the waiter was rude in asking...us not to use our phone ...We didn't appreciate that, as tourists we need to check the destination we're going to visit, it's not like anyone was watching a Netflix movie and playing video games. I think this restaurant has business mostly due to its location close to Nijo Castle, and would be be able to hold its own based the merit of their food, especially considering the quality of other restaurants in Kyoto.More

The so called top ranking noodle was way too salty to our group of people, but it’s not even the worst part, the owner of the restaurant had quite bit attitude, his rudeness ruined whole lunch for us. It’s clear criminal to try to make...phone call in his jurisdiction...More

Some of the stuff was OK, but was surprised that the Karaage chicken was under-cooked. We wanted a quick lunch so that we could go to see the Nijo castle after returning from Arashiyama.

Turned up here during our visit to Kyoto from Australia. Had a great spread of dumplings, ramen and pork and rice. Kids loved the meal and would highly recommend. It was that good we went back a second time. Cash only.

We wanted to eat before going to Nijo castle and the lady from Shibori Museum recommended this place and even showed us how to get there. (I loved how in Japan, people took the trouble to give you directions in detail). With just few seats...left, we ordered chasu ramen, bowl of rice with chicken and gyoja. The husband gave its ramen a five star while i enjoyed the best friend chicken I ever had. On top of that the stuffing in our gyoja was silky soft. If you are in the Nijo Castle area, it is a great place to catch up on lunch. Also, this was one of few shops that had a vegetable only ramen option. If I could I would go back and have more fried chicken.More

Found this restaurant through reviews here. Decided to try one night for dinner and was such lovely food! Would highly recommend. Was easy to find (right by Nijo Castle) and the staff were great! Very reasonably priced and great food.

We went here after visiting Nijo castle, and it was great. Pretty straightforward ramen place, but solidly doing ramen. Medium sized so it may be a little easier to get into than some places. Lots of locals, which is always a good sign.

We found this small place during our visit to Kyoto Castle. Very good food with friendly staff. We ordered the fixed menu for ¥1,000 per person and all left very satisfied and full. The free ice tea pitcher on the table was an added bonus!...Would recommend to all.More

Visited 3 years ago and we finally made it back tonight. Easily the best food we've had here and very friendly staff. English menu is also a plus if you struggle with reading Japanese.
