Rave reviews from so many folks but here's our key take away view 1) Food was great and service until the end was good (see below) 2) House red is not drinkable and when we discussed this with staff I was able to select another wine that was rather nice 3) Come time for the bill the original wine was... I was looking for a special dinner whilst on our trip in Japan, and The Fujiya Gohonjin stood out from the website and the reviews. We emailed a couple of months ahead to reserve a table with no problems. The whole experience was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. We entered and were greeted by a lady who took us... More

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful, we were seated next to the window with a breathtaking view of their Japanese garden, all wonderfully lit with snow falling outside. The food was perfect - the best swordfish I've ever tasted, and the desserts were to die for! Best of all the service was excellent. We had a very sweet waitress who made... More

The cafe and restaurant at this quaint hotel offer a delicious menu for those intrigued by novel flavours. The cafe serves sweet pastries like strawberry tart infused with earl grey tea and served with white chocolate ice cream that is exquisite, particularly if joined with boutique teas.

Sticking to a Gluten Free diet in Japan is hard, a lot of food is gf but finding out what is is difficult , they don't seem to have much knowledge of Coeliac Disease. We chose this restaurant as it is "Italian" in Japan and Italians are usually very good with gluten free. I had a translation and with the... More

Fujiya Gohonjin is mainly a wedding destination but they have one of the better Italian restaurants in the back of the building. If you go, check out the lovely wedding chapel.

My wife and I visited the restaurant on 16th June. We ordered 2 different set lunch and did enjoy every single dish, I especially like the cold pumpkin soup. The food and high quality of service is both beyond our expectations, good environment as well!! After having the meal, we were bought to a corner with beautiful garden view to... More

By far, the best restaurant in Nagano city. This is a classic place. Cheap it is not, but if you are looking for a TOP quality dinner, or lunch, this is the place to go. Not the first time here, and will defiantly return.

A beautiful restaurant located in a landmark building. Affordable luxury fusion food and charming service - you just should not miss this restaurant. A perfect experience and indulgence. It would be hard pressed to find anything finer. As a couple we chose two different courses - the Wisteria (5000 Yen) and the Prime Course (7500 Yen) for Dinner and shared... More

Description
The Fujiya Gohonjin (since 1648)

A historic hotel originally built in 1648 and located at the base of Zenkoji temple. Updated in 2006, Fujiya has since been turned into a restaurant and reception hall.

Redesigned to reflect the Japanese colonial period of the early 1900s, Fujiya exhibits a characteristic interior with exposed dark wooden beams and Japanese courtyard gardents.

Fujiya preserves an authentic feel of old traditional Japan.
