It’s fun to sit at the counter and watch the chef making each of the pancakes. We love the sizzling hot dishes on a cold winter night.

In Japan if people are queuing outside a restaurant you know it’s gonna be good. This Okonomiyaki place is better than just good, it’s hitting the awesome mark. Can’t say I’m a big Okonomiyaki fan, but after trying a few bites here, I realised probably...haven’t had a great one. This place feels like a bit of an institution, judging by all the tourist photos with the old owner on the wall. The owner was charming and friendly and very eager to engage in a chat and entertain between working hard over the hot plate. The food itself was great, we tried different styles of Okonomiyaki and found each combination of meat or seafood moorish and both crispy and moist depending on how well done the noodles were. So despite the queue the wait was really worth tasting all the different flavours and the charming hospitality of the owner.More
Fantastic food! Hard to find and the door is shut so it looks closed but just walk right in. Look out for the red flag on the door! We didn’t have to wait but went quite early. (5:30ish). They asked if we had ever done...okonomiyaki before (we hadn’t) so the boss said he would make us something, checked now allergies and produced two awesome dishes! Would recommend!More
This place was hard to find but it was worth it. We have had okonomiyaki in a number of places around Osaka and this place beats them all hands down - it’s just so delicious
Great Okonomiaki! It was my first okonomiaki ever and I've really enjoyed it. I've waited about an hour but it's worth for. The staff is very friendly and explained the only in japanese written menu. I've had a really nice chat with the owner and...a super tasty okonomiaki for a great price.More
Not worth the trek - out of the way - finally found the place but was turned away - before 8 pm with no queue apparent - just a warning it might happen to you - be warned
This is seriously the best okonomiyaki I ever had. The sauce they used is savory. Staff are friendly. The store is a lil bit rundown from the inside but the food is the focus of this restaurant. Price is totally reasonable. One downside of the...restaurant is that you need to wait for at least 30-45 mins or even more for a table if you are not early enough.More
Came here specially to try the Okonomiyaki. It is not easy to get to the Umeda Sky Building itself. Go from Osaka station and Grand Front Osaka, cross the road and go straight all the way. It is at Basement 1 and look for number...7 with the red banner as shown. When we arrived, it was around 1pm and there was a queue of about 2 groups. We were waiting outside as the door has to be closed. When customers leave the restaurant, the next group can proceed in and take a seat inside while waiting for them to clear the tables and assign you a seat. We waited for about 20 min. The place itself is quite small and as we are a couple, we were given the seat at the counter. Not a bad issue except the smoky smell gets onto your clothes. You can put your bag and outwear in the space in the chair under the cushion. Good thing is you can to see the chef cook your food and others in front of you. They can't really speak English but one chef told us there are pork, beef, seafood and noodles option. I believe there is more options as we saw many more on the Japanese menu. Still happy to just order one pork and one with soba noodles. Price came up to 1680 yen for both our food which I find affordable. It is also delicious too. However, I likely won't make another special trip down again since I have to wait and okonomiyaki can be found in most places too. Nonetheless, good experience for tourists.More
Food is very delicious, nice selection for different okonomiyaki, great service. Surprisingly cheap!
Food is great, experience is great, service is great. They don’t take bookings because they don’t need to so allow so time for waiting or go before 5pm for early dinner. Surprisingly really cheap so enjoy
I went with my brother, and we loved it!, the okonomiyaki is soo good. We went two days straight 😆. It is true you have to wait, and honestly quite a bit. The first day we arrived around 2 pm, and we waited like 10...minutes, and they served us really fast. The second day we arrived around 6, and we waited over an hour, so if you have some time and are willing to wait that long I do recommend it! Also, the staff is really friendly, but you must be patient because they don't speak really good English. And there not English menus so pay attention on what they say to you haha, but it's actually worth it.More
This place is located one floor below the Umeda Sky Building. But when you get there you will see several restaurants and most of them with no English signs. Kiji is one of them. I got there at around 5pm or so and the place...was not busy at all but just after we got in, a huge waiting line was formed, so I do recommend arriving early. There isn't any English menu, and the staff can barely speak English as well. But no panic, they will do their best to explain the options, and there aren't so many. We just went for the basic pork Okonomiyaki and fried yakisoba noodles and share the two portions between two. You continue frying the dishes at your table, and the whole experience was delicious. What impressed us the most was the kindness of the owner that stopped us on our way out that wrote us a nice message and a thank you note in kanji that we are keeping as a souvenir.More
We decided to visit Umeda for some shopping on our first day in Osaka and decided to find an Okonomiyaki place and this place seemed really popular and seriously it did not disappoint. In fact it was one of our food highlight of our time...in Japan but good luck finding this place - we went round and round the station on all the different levels - its tucked away with a stairwell leading up to the small underground restaurant. This place is worth visiting just for the vibes itself. Luckily when we went the queues weren't so bad so we waited for around 15mins and then waited probably for another 30 mins but it flew by as you can watch them create the masterpiece with so much seriousness, love and simplicity. The Okonomiyaki was light and fluffy, full of flavour! Highly recommend!More
Waiting lines up to more than one hour for a average and overpriced okonomiyaki, the taste is good but you can get okonomiyaki like this (and better) in a thousand places in Osaka, it doesn't worth the wait. Go somewhere else
Humble okonomiyaki store with limited seating and great service. Didn't have to wait too long to get a seat with 3 people. Okonomiyaki and yakisoba were excellent!
