I had dinner with friends and family at Lai Po Heen and left extremely disappointed due to the service and food quality. It took a long time for the soup to arrive, unfortunately it arrived cold. We sent it back with the waiter and after...a prolonged waiting period it was brought back in the same state: cold. The waiter's justification was that the soup cooled down on the way from the kitchen to the table. This was a sign of what awaited us for the rest of the evening; Rice that was cold he, upon sending it back, we were brought back the exact same dish. Likewise the chicken and steak were cold. The only exception to that was the fried fish which I suspect to be the only dish not to have been precooked. All of this might have been slightly overlooked had the flavour been up to par, but alas it was mediocre at best. Most of the dishes were bland and did not match the restaurant's reputation. The waiting staff were inattentive and appeared to be focused on only one table, it took a lot of effort to grab their attention. There wasn't a single apology given and no manager came to our table to discuss our concerns. We left with a bill that did not reflect the experience, we will not be returning.More

The staff are friendly and attentive. In particular, Aisha, Maisarah, Chong, Roxanne, Jane and Paul. I would like to specifically commend Cornelius for going over and beyond his duty to provide me with menu options and directions around KLCC. The food quality, however, can be...enhanced. The taste is not consistent across weeks. E.g. the dim sum can be better prepared and presented. On good days, the radish cake is well-fryed. On others, it is overdone. The duck meat can be better marinated. Dr. Sam Jay Yeo SingaporeMore

During our tour of Malaysia, we stopped for 3 days in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. We celebrated my birthday at Lai Po Hen, a high class gastronomic restaurant within the hotel. The service was good the starters were excellent and the wine...very good as well. Unfortunately, the main courses arrived cold, ruining what could have been a great experience. We complained to our waiter, who advised us that he would speak to the chef. He never offered to heat our food, nor replace it. This ruined our experience. We recommend the the coordination of plates should be improved to avoid situations like this in the future.More

My friend touted it as Michelle Yeoh’s favourite restaurant so we made a beeline for it whilst in KL. We ordered several varieties of dimsum for lunch, a vegetable dish and fried rice. Whilst my Malay friend liked it, being Chinese and eating dimsum all...my life, the dimsum here was quite uninspiring and average. The best dimsum dish was the chicken char siu pastry as it was topped with roasted sesame - a nice touch. The seafood fried rice did not reflect the best of the chef’s “wok hei” skills and it contained meagre amount of seafood. The service was however impeccable and first class. Plates were changed a few times by the attentive staff.More
