Overall experience: I dined in on 9 July 2022 at 6.45pm (restaurant opens at 6.30pm) and I was the second table. However after 1 hour only 1 dish is served, i.e. Peking duck. The other 5 dishes ordered was not served even until 1.5 hours...(8.15pm). However I do see them serving food to the VIP rooms who definitely arrived later than me. Out of sudden I was served dessert and ice cream when I have not been served any main meals, although I clearly told them to serve dessert last when I placed order (even if I don't remind them, a sensible person would know that right?) After complaining to more than 6 different waitress and waiters, I finally get my food served at about 8.45pm after 2 HOURS when I was the 2nd customer. I saw the table beside me who only waited to 45 minutes complaining and shouting at the waitress for the long wait and finally left. I can only imagine the long wait is due to them prioritizing VIP customers in the room or chef being late? As I see food were served from 9pm onwards although those tables arrived much later, after 7.30pm. Each table were only served Peking Duck, and had to wait after 9pm for food to be served. I was there with young kids and it is ridiculous to wait for 2 hours to be served food. Service I flagged at several waiters who ignored me as I guess they knew we are going to check why we need to wait so long for the food. Only there was one woman captain? (wearing black jacket) who get back to us and told us they will prepare our food soon - that was after 1 hour and 45 min. She also apologised for the delay. Food 1) Peking Duck - this is good and basically all tables ordered this. I would rate it 5 star compared to other restaurants in Malaysia. However I find the portion is a bit small. 1 duck is only enough for 2 or 3 person. 2) Wok style crispy noodle with fresh water king prawn - 5 star, although the size of the prawn is quite small. The soup taste quite nice, feels like broth compared to those sold in other places 3) Classic Trio Combination Platter - 3 star - only the foie gras taste really good, the prawn paste and lobster tasted a little like those cheap canned food 4) Butter prawn with floss - 2 star - prawn was not crispy and oily (not because of butter but because of cooking oil) 5) Kung Po chicken with cashew nut and yam - 3 star - yam tasted a bit weird, not too spicy which is good, taste quite good 6)Fried during with ice cream - 3 star, i guess supposed to taste good, not sure if it is freshly made. Since it is fried durian, I wonder why it is so cold like just taken out from the fridge. The skin is soggy Total bill ~ RM600++More

The service was good but my oh my, the same awful wooden chairs with a thin 2 cm thick of foam to sit on was really hard to relax in! As for the food, the wrapping for the Chee cheong Fun was thick and heavy...with the smallest amount of filling. The crab meat soup `with quinoa' was a heavy starchy concoction with barely visible morsels of crab in it; not a grain of quinoa was in the soup.More

We have always loved Shang palace for its dim sum and other chinese dishes. Price is expensive but is worth it. We had the steamed lobster with garlic and it tastes heavenly! Cooked to perfection, juicy and tender meat.. Well cleaned too! Amazing chef skills.More

We must have been among the very first to have dined here after the MCO. The Shang Palace was stripped off its splendour but we were looking forward to celebrating my husband’s birthday so this was our ultimate choice. The menu was understandably very limited...and only accessible by QR code. The waiting staff were very attentive and very welcoming. We would come back for a proper dim sum feast. We only got a sampler as part of our meal with Peking duck, yang chow fried rice with scallops and crab meat (wow), mixed vegetables (asparagus, kailan...) and Szechuan chicken with chilli. Among what we have ordered, the Peking duck and the fried rice were the best. The Szechuan chicken - I think was nothing special but definitely, we had a good comfort food meal to celebrate a low-key birthday.More

To celebrate, we reserved a Yee Sang for 4 persons ( Great Prosperity selection) on Saturday February 08. It was a huge let down, because food was tasteless ( e.g., prawns over cooked, etc). The only good tasting dish was sesame dumplings! Perhaps, we should...have paid attention, because when we looked around, most people were NOT ordering Yee Sang! Well, to put things in perspective, with such bad Yee Sang food, we will definitely get great ( i.e., better) Prosperity with food for the rest of the year ! This time, what happened Shangri La? We had always enjoyed the food at Shang Palace? May be chef’s bad day? Well , at least the room accommodations were 👍More
