Tasty French cuisine in a very relaxed setting and atmosphere. Chef Flo and his very capable front of house team served us very authentic tasty classic dishes. The escargot are delicious as is the fish soup. The sharing platter of cold cuts, pate and cheese...is excellent. The mains included mussels with fries, tender steak of Black Angus and beef burgundy. Of course we had the chocolate mouse and cream brûlée. Wanted to continue but stomach limitations makes that impossible so will come back soon for more. The restaurant is not that easy to find but worth the effort. Guaranteed.More

Our experience was truly delightful warranting me to post in this review. +s 1. Simple, casual and relaxed setting. Not the uppity stuffy place so smart casual dining works well here. 2. Staff is incredibly attentive, polite and speedy in delivering good service. 3. Experience...started well with the Tropical Punch and Original Mojitos which were presented well and icy delicious. 4. I was completely blown away by the onion soup(non halal as pork bacon is generously included) and the accompanying pastry made a superb combination. 5. After the soup, along with my “premium” 3 course set at a very reasonable RM105++ came their signature beef cheek which was very melting tender and delicious, while my wife’s fish meal was a generous serving(she thought serving was too large for a lady) with their signature potatoes(also a must-try) and a tomoto based veg dish which we couldn’t name. 6. Capping the meal was the creme brulee which came as part of my set and we “accidentally” placed another order when the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. So 2 creme brûlée was served which we were hesitant because we were quite full with the generous dinner portions, but we wiped out the desserts because.... well you have to try it to understand, dont not order creme brûlée here. -s 1. Parking is a challenge here so dont expect to park near or come on time thinking that you can just park and waltz into the restaurant. I had a scooter so we were lucky to just park right across the road. 2. Again this is not a fine dining restaurant requiring you to dress to kill, casual setting and very authentic small town french restaurant feel. If this is what you had on mind then this is the place. We will return.More

Simple laid-back, rustic French restaurant in Bangsar. We had the weekend lunch set menu, the food was good, excellent value for money. The service was good and the staff had a good attitude. Do not expect a fine dining restaurant. It is not that. If...you want a relaxed, rustic atmosphere with good French food this is a good choice. Maybe the à la carte menu is a bit more complex. The location is a bit challenging. You can’t see the restaurant from your car if you are driving. It is situated in a traditional KL shop-lot area.More

One of the better French bistro in KL. The food is unpretentious and home cooked. The service is led by the very friendly and welcoming owners themselves. The duck breast and the île flottante were great. The boeuf bourguignon and the apple pie, we felt...could be improved. Good choice of affordable wines.More

Great food as always. I love how the chef takes the time to talk one through the menu and discuss options with guests with dietary requirements.

If you're looking for a cosy quiet place to sink your teeth into some French cuisine, we would highly recommend this restaurant. The appetisers and desserts were superb. We would join the others to rave how good the onion soup was, the richness of the...fish soup (though some may find it too fishy, different palate) and the sinfully delicious chocolate ganache and fluffy lemon meringue. We were more impressed with these than our mains. Not to say the mains were bad, as we felt that the meat and seafood were under seasoned but it could be the accompanying sauces were the flavouring component. The side dishes however were very well seasoned. Perhaps to balance the meal. Overall an encouraging visit.More

Interior a bit spartan and exterior view mainly concrete. The Chef and partner (?) were excellent but the other staff seemed clueless. You have to go outside and stand on the pavement to smoke. Funnily enough the menu uses French but the waiters and the...bill all come in English.More

This place perhaps serves the most authentic French food at most affordable prices. Environment was nothing to shout about but the food and wine were the stars of this restaurant.

Outstanding!! This is the best French restaurant I’ve ever been in KL! The tastes were so exceptionally delicious and were absolutely satisfying eating each mouthful of each dish - bread n butter, roasted potatoes and tomatoes, fish, creme brûlée - I’ve never tasted anything like...this in KL and I highly recommend this restaurant - you’d certainly be satisfied.More

My husband told me I would like this restaurant and he was so right! A really relaxed ambiance but the main attraction is the fabulous food. As a Coeliac I sometimes struggle with menu’s but chef Gaston himself came out to discuss my options and...was enthusiastically willing to change recipes to accommodate my needs. The food was beautifully presented and was simply delicious. Staff are attentive and friendly....I will definitely visit again when next in Kuala Lumpur.More

Dropped in without a reservation after seeing the restaurant on Facebook posts several times. Service was prompt and friendly and we were seated in a nice area with a lovely breeze under the ceiling fans. We opted for the set menu which was great value...and all courses were full of fantastic flavors. The pate and onion soup were a great start, the fish and chicken dishes super succulent and then the creme brûlée and the tarte tatin lovely. A nice bottle of wine, at a reasonable price for Malaysia, to accompany the dishes. Overall a great visit with some of the best flavored food we’ve tasted in some time. Give it a try...More

I love this humble little restaurant that's tucked away in a little corner in Bangsar. Their food is absolutely fabulous especially the pan-fried foie gras.... My favourite of the night amongst other dishes we ordered. The main course which was a rack of lamb roasted...with flavours akin to donner kebab was absolutely genius! What a creative little dish! Must try to be able to know for yourself as it is hard to describe! Marianne is an absolutely pleasant hostess who even remembers little 'Gracie', our Yorkshire terrier who was ecstatic to see Marianne again. Chef was very lovely as well coming out occassionaly from the kitchen to check on the customers and us regarding the food he had cooked for personal feedback. An ABSOLUTE MUST VISIT!More

I've forgotten the last time I had a truly enjoyable meal - the one which lit up my eyes as I took my first bite, followed by "mmmm" and I kept on digging until the end - kind of meal. I finally found one after...some time.. and it's not any kind of fancy schmancy meal, but more of a casual French restaurant in quieter enclave of Bangsar. ◾Soupe de poissons - the chef's father's recipe is sea fish soup, blended with tomato, fennel and herbs.. and served with rouille sauce, croutons and Emmenthal cheese on the side. The first thing to be served and we were delighted.. the soup was packed with the freshness 鲜味 of the seafood. I would have licked the bowl clean given the permission but have to jaga manner. ◾Duck liver foie gras terrine - marinated with cognac and sweet moscato white wine, half cooked and served with roasted brioche, air fried duck breast and fig jam. You'll love this if you love foie gras.. nuff said. ◾Juicy premium roasted duck breast served with raspberry vinaigrette sauce. I couldn't find a very good duck breast after the one I had in Paris in 2012 and this was a revelation because I could taste the similarity of the duck breast to the one I had in Pompidou area. As best as I can get! ◾Slow cooked pork tenderloin with porcini mushrooms, and brandy cream sauce. Don't get me wrong, this is a good pork but the duck has already filled my mind. Even the partner switched plate with me half way. ◾A glass of house wine from South Africa for only RM25 per glass was truly a deal. I didn't have chance to try Rendezvous in the past but I am surely glad that they opened Chez Gaston. Eating French food in Malaysia can be an expensive affair - try going to French Feast and Cafe Cafe and you'll know what I mean - but Chez Gaston changed that. The price is kept to an affordable level - sure you have to forget dining in intimate environment because it is more casual here but I'm not complaining.More
