A Banana Leaf Rice that I would recommend is Vishal in Brickfields. The place is packed to the brim and you need to share tables with strangers. A birthday treat for a special friend - we had stir fried sura puttu (shark meat), mutton varuval (dried), 2 think pieces of perfectly fried tenggiri and spicy squid perathal. The mango curry and mutton dhall were awesome. Curd was a little too sour for my liking. Finished off the meal with brew coffee. About RM60 for 2 persons. There are plenty of restaurants in the area so finding parking during lunch time can be a pain.

It seems that this resto is popular especially among the local indians in Brickfields area~ I came & ate here by 5 in the afternoon and there're still many people~as I see more than 90% who eat here are indians. This proves that the food are authentic. I tried Nasi Biryani with Chicken. It's a huge portion of rice with fried chicken, egg and three different types of side dishes. I also ordered teh/tea tarik. Taste really good. It costs around RM 13.

Came here at 11.30am for lunch. Not ready till around 11.45am. Service is poor. None of the fried food is ready. But the price is very cheap. Only RM6.80 for the vegetarian set. Can't find any where in KL anymore with this price. Food taste is OK. Parking is not easy.

Be prepared to wait and be ignored, after at least 15 mins waiting we were given 2 "reserved" seats. Fried and meat dishes were offered to the couple sitting next to us but not us, when we mentioned this at the payment counter, not so much as an acknowledgment, much less an apology was offered. Food not great anyway.

Went here twice with my friends 1 year ago, but we went for lunch and the service was excellent eventhough peak hours BUT TODAY came here for evening tea, worst service ever experienced in restaurant. Be it the waiter , or the server didn't bothered us at all. Waiting there like 5 to 10 mins just for someone to come and ask us what we would like to have .. That's even fine BUT ME AND MY AUNT pissed off when people after us got served . Omg . And we just walked out of restaurant.

To have the best Idli and Vadai. Come to this restaurant in the heart of KL. Although, the service is a bit slow and the cleanliness is average but the food is still AMAZING. The price is just nice. Overall, this restaurant is astonishing.

Went there with my wife and waited 20 minutes for them to clear the table. Leaves was served for the table beside and was not served or order taken for us. This had happened few times before and this time it was really fustrating. Good services always given to those who ear with fork n spoon on the banana leave.

We enjoyed two different banana leaf meals at Vishal Food and Catering. Unfortunately we turned up on the wrong evening to sample the biriyani.

We went there as a group since so many people had praised it, and were very disappointed. It is actually a shack, with very poor hygiene, poor seating and not much else to attract you. The food is so-so. The waiters cannot speak any other language except Tamil, and they all need a bath. The floor is greasy, the area to wash hands is one you would not want to enter, and there is no proper washroom.

It is an Indian restaurant located in little India. The restaurant has kinda buffet area where you go and choose the dishes you want. Then the server brings you the food to big tables were you share the seats with other clients. They give you a banana leaf, tap water and some sauces. I tried the lamb stew and the curry mutton with Ciabatta bread. The taste was good and enjoyed the experience. However, I questioned the hygiene of the place from the cleanliness of the tables to the cooking area. If you are looking for authentic Indian experience, and like to eat with your hands, then this place could be a good start.

This nice no air conditioning restaurant is located near the Indian temple in Brick fields, a popular Indian area. The food is excellent especially the banana leaf. There is free flow of vegetables water and tasty hi Ken and fish curry sauce. You sit in rows like a class room setting. It always packed a testimony to its popularity and taste. Real authentic Indian food. Parking is a problem but you can park at the street behind. Relatively cheap.

Having heard Vishal Food & Catering is one of the renowned banana leaf restaurants in Brickfields area. Indeed, a very authentic banana leaf meal, probably a better option to stick to vegan. I find the Mutton curry weak and simply too many small bits of meat with plenty of bones. They'll heap the rice on if you don't stop them, and there's plenty of common vegetables curry and dhall from the tiffin refills. However, at the peak lunchtime it was hard to get their attention for the pappadam and deep fried crispy salty dry chillies. Simply love them, goes very well with curry and rice. Per pax was MYR 21.90

Headed into Vishal's after reading all the reviews. Arrived at around 9am and was shown a table. What we probably didn't realise is there is no rice at this time, and not many options of curries. It appeared that everyone was having lentils versus meat curries. I ended up asking if they had any curries wanting to try as much as possible and was shown two chicken curry options in the bain-marie.... which I got one of each. I found both chicken quite dry. I'm sure my experience was likely due heading there at breakfast - so recommend people to go at Lunch/Dinner. Our two roti canai, two chicken curries and 1 tea tarik came to 17MYR.

Wonderfull curries served on banana leafs. It was full with locals when we passed next to it so we decided this will be our place. 😊 We didnt make wrong decision. The only thing that it would be great if they give for us a little explain or advice how to order because without this we didnt know how its work and in a couple minute we found our table full with meals. 😂 But at least we could taste a lot and all was amazing. If you are in KL and want to try good indian food a must have.
