The food is delicious and expensive but the chicken was small. It was tastier than many inasal but smaller =/
Great food, the staff were really friendly, couldn't ask for better service, price is affordable and cheap.
This is a very basic restaurant. Open air and basic to the max. But the food is what really matters and it is stupendously good. I adore Bacolod Chicken, which is basically BBQ chicken marinated in what I guess is soy, calamansi (small lime juice)...and 7UP or Sprite. Although I am not sure. The chicken is served on a banana leaf and plain or garlic rice. I go for the garlic rice and a dipping sauce of soy, calamansi and chilli. It is best eaten with your hands, so take alcohol gel if you are a fussy eater like me. My local fianceé hates eating here as it looks so unclean but I can't get enough and have never been ill after maybe 50 visits. A stick of BBQ liver is also worth getting on the side, which is good dipped in vinegar. There is a very popular nationwide chain of restaurants called Mang Inasal which serves similar looking chicken. Believe me there is no comparison, Mang Inasal doesn't come anywhere close to the juicy chicken found here. If staying in Makati, it is worth seeking out, just ask the driver to go to Shopwise supermarket on Vito Cruz Extension and Pasong Tamo, and this place is opposite.More
The Bacolod chicken house, close to the El Rico, is a small corner store just opposite the Tricycle rickshaw rank. Its nothing much to look at, in fact most people would walk by and ignore the place, because its walls have not been painted for...a while, the tables are mixed and the general ambiance indicates that this place has been thrown together. But if you did this, then you the gourmet diner , would be making a major mistake ! Because here in the Chicken Express, is the fabled Bacolod Chicken dishes that are revered in Pinoy cooking. Here the Chicken is marinated is a special sauce and then lovingly basted on the chicken, while it is being cooked over the open fire of charcoal. At the Chicken express, they have a very small menu, Chicken, chicken and chicken.... oh and a small Pork Cutlet too. Try the chicken, especially Chicken Inasal ! They will serve it with Garlic Rice, which is delicious and also a small dish for the mixture of mini Lime juice, Soya sauce, Chillis and some Vinegar..... Yum I can taste it now and all for the exhorbitant price of 95 Pesos ! seriously good food that the Colonel does not offer !More
