We have eaten Ethiopian food many time and were excited to discover this restarant while in Allentown. It's a small restaurant with only 8 tables. We chose two of the combo platters, lamb and chicken. Both were excellent. The main meat surrounded by collard greens, lentils, a beef item and salad. We went for the medium spice which was perfect... More

My friends and I are very adventures eaters. I love trying any sort of ethnic Cuisines that are available in my area. I was very excited to find out there was an Ethiopian restaurant nearby. We had ordered appetizers that were very good. It was deep fried dough with ground beef. For the main course my friend ordered the lamb... More

Small local restaurant; lovely Ethiopian food, welcoming atmosphere. One could imagine you were eating in a family kitchen.

Always up for a new food adventure and this was truly one. Had no idea what to expect, so we asked a few questions and shared a vegetarian and lamb tibs. We ordered it medium spicy, which had quite the kick, even for me and I enjoy spicy, hot food, I would go mild next time so I could get... More

It's a small restaurant with only 8 tables. I had as an appetizer the meat sabosa. It was 3 deep fried minced meat in a dough with a mild salsa. The main course was a combination of lamb tibs red beef, yellow peas lentils & a salad. I got it medium spice which was still quite hot. It was served on... More

This place serves authentic Ethiopian food that is not only delicious but a great value. We got an order of chicken wot which came on a huge indera flatbread and the lamb tips which also came on indera flatbread. So much food and so good too. The place was clean and food was made fresh. Would definitely go back.

We used to have to travel to NYC or Philly for Ethiopian, but now Mariam's serves up almost all of the classic dishes. The raw kitfo is always very fresh, spiced just right, perhaps ground a bit too fine. The wat dishes can be ordered at your desired heat level, and the vegetable dishes are all good. They even have... More

We have had many Ethiopian food experiences in several cities (unfortunately, none in Ethiopia!) and this was, by far, the best. Mariam's is located in my favourite kind of neighborhood, a "United Nations" neighborhood, an ideal setting for the fabulously prepared ethnic food presented in this simple, comfortable, space. Everything (and I do mean everything) was spotlessly clean. The service... More

I'm not an expert when it comes to Ethiopian food but I have to think that this is pretty close to the real thimg. Who cares? There's plenty of neat stuff to choose from, attentive service that is cocerned about the level of spiciness that you can handle, and the bill won't bust your crefit limit. Forget ambience. That's not... More
