Not bad nor outstanding, just basic bar food. Seasoned and fried to be tasty. Seemed like fresh ingredient.

Must have been a bad night or the barkeep woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Wife and I stopped in for a quick brew before deciding on dinner. Actually, we were on the fence about dinner here, but the lackadaisical vine we...More

Great happy hour n excellent service. I like to sit at the bar, as a rule, and its soo hard to find good bartenders anymore. Just our luck we met Morgan. She was friendly, engaging and just what you want at an Irish pub. Ice...More

Enjoyed a Black and Tan made with Smithwicks instead of Bass. That's a staple for me. Had a very good Ruben Sandwich. Coleslaw is good and different. Fries need work. I'm looking for large chip style fries in a place like this, not short greasy...More

This used to be one of our favorite places to eat in anderson. Not any longer. The food and service have diminished.

We saw McGee's on Trip Advisor when looking for a place to hang out while in Anderson for a couple of days. We sat at the bar, enjoyed a couple of beers, food, and played trivia on a Wednesday evening. The drink prices were very...More

This is a great Irish themed restaurant. More of an Irish American mix of meals. And a little heavy on the American side. Either way it was still good. We enjoyed our food and the place has a warm and cozy feel to it. Its...More

I like McGees, the food is dependable and the beer selection is very good. But I stopped going a couple of years ago when they switched their fish and chips from cod to pollock because of scarcity and price. Happily, the thick, flaky, perfectly fried...More

There is a wide variety on the menu. The roast beef debris sandwich and the beer cheese soup are what I usually get because they are so good. Live entertainment and trivia nights add to the fun. The front isn't very handicapped friendly, but other...More

This restaurant was recommended and Im glad we decided to check it out. They have an extensive wine and beer list. I tried their "Mick"aroni and Cheese Skillet and it was really good.

Sorry, haven't been there on Trivia night.
Richard M: I read our online reviews frequently. Of course we love the good ones & are disappointed in ourselves for the negative ones, but try to move on & do better the next time. Yours has kind of stuck in my craw........"the stuck in the 70's" thing. Although we change our menu annually, I've always treated the "Celtic Classic" section of our menu like a sacred cow. On a recent trip to the coast, my husband & I visited two of our favorite Irish Pubs & realized their "Celtic Classics" was exactly like ours. YOU ARE RIGHT.....we are all stuck in the 70's. Even in Ireland, pub menus are more modernized. I've always wanted McGee's Irish Pub to be it's unique self.......not so much a replication of a pub in Ireland, but a reflection of the Ulster Scot history of our locale in the Appalachian foothills. Therefore, in the spirit of moving into the new millennium, we are updating our menu with more "signature entrees" - inspired by our area's Scot-Irish cultural history, but with modern presentations & preparations. I hope you will return, try a few, & tell us what you think. (P.S. We're keeping the Fish n Chips though).

Tucked into the heart of downtown Anderson, SC, McGEE's IRISH PUB & RESTAURANT offers a distinct alternative to regular eating & drinking establishments. Diversity is the key to McGEE's special appeal. Business people appreciate the quality & value of our lunches, as well as the speed & friendly manner in which they are served. Others prefer to linger, quietly enjoying the afternoon and forgetting the world outside.
