I've eaten here several times. The pros: the menu is customizable, which worked great with the mixed group of kids I bring each time. Even picky eaters can find something that will work for them. The listed sushi rolls are tasty, though not traditional, and you can also customize them any way you want. The noodle and rice bowls are... More

I did not expect the sushi or the service to be as good as it was. I was very satisfied with what I ordered and liked it so much I had to go back for seconds. The service was just as awesome they really made me feel welcome and the price was low

I could not be more disappointed with my experience with How Do You Roll! Today we walked in and placed an order of 2 rolls and edamame. Simple right? Not exactly. 1:28pm order was placed, we did not get our rolls until 1:53. 25 minutes for 2 rolls! Myself and my 7 yr old son sat patiently watching everyone else... More

We actually visited the one on San Antonio in Downtown Austin. I was impressed by the very friendly staff, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and our sushi rolls were very inexpensive and absolutely delicious. We also tried the Miso soup which was great. I am a beginner sushi lover, but had a sushi connoisseur with me and we both quite... More

Had some maki rolls and a salad, all good. We asked if they did tempura and were told that yes, they did. What this was, however, was a thing called tempura crunch (which looks like rice crispies) as a topping for the rolls. I don't think the girl we spoke to had a clue what actual tempura was. Our food... More

It started out as a great concept at a good price. The sushi was good especially for entry level sushi eaters. Now they've raised prices, decreased quantity and made what was once included now an upcharge. Oh we'll, I suppose the people will decide the fate of this one.

then this may work. The made to order rolls allow you to customize your meal but other than that this is basically a fast food restaurant with a limited menu.

I love how these folks are serious about greeting you when you come in the door. The food is cleanly displayed. I have eaten at several locations but the downtown Austin location is on the ball. Great prices too.

I went there for lunch while on a business meeting. The staff was friendly, but the sushi was not fresh. Just because they make sushi to order does not mean the ingridients were fresh. Also the way they try to "automate" sushi making is a pain for any sushi lover.

Stumbled on this place when looking for a place for a quick dinner to take back to my hotel. Staff was extremely nice, and explained the whole process in detail to me. Food was prepared to order, and extras were added as requested. Will certainly return!

How Do You Roll? is a unique maki style sushi bar started by two brothers in Austin, Texas in 2008. Their goal was to bring quality sushi without pretension to our fast-paced society. HDYR? reinvents sushi by allowing customers to design their own sushi rolls, right in front of them. Grilled chicken, avocado, cream cheese, and mango? Why not! Not only does HDYR? offer a unique, quick dining alternative, but HDYR? also conducts business consciously, living by their motto of “Making the world better, one stomach at a time”.
