Went there for breakfast twice during a recent business trip to Boston. Had the brisket hash one day and the huevos rancheros the next. Both dishes were well prepared . The service was decent and the coffee just fair. I'd go back.

The bloody mary is so good we went back the next day for another. You can sit at the counter and watch the pastry chefs through the glass. The cream danish is decadant and should not be missed.

The 1886 Cafe & Bakery is located inside the Driskill Hotel, one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Austin. It's a great place to have lunch with friends, then you can explore the hotel. Don't miss the women's restroom - it's so beautiful!
A lot of choices ranging from huevos rancheros in a cast iron skillet to the hangover omelet. Recommend the Hippy Hollow plate of scrambled eggs, roasted tomato and potatoes. Attentive wait staff that kept the coffee cups and water glasses filled. Highly recommend for breakfast.
