Attended a wine dinner at Mattie's, which only opened about six weeks ago. New restaurants routinely show rough edges but not so for Mattie's. Everything from the valet to the wine list are near perfect. Our menu featured a number of Mattie's favorite dishes: a lovely Chicken Liver Pate, a good Farmhouse Salad, outstanding Crispy Cauliflower, excellent Sauteed Squash, very... More

My family and I have attended Easter Brunch for the last six years except for last year because it was closed, The food, service, music and overall ambiance left a lot to be desired. It was not charming and elegant as it used to be. We will not be returning next year! Enrique M.

My husband and I dined at Mattie's for Easter brunch. It is difficult to review Mattie's on its own merit because I was expecting it to be the long awaited, promised, reopening of Green Pastures. It is NOT! The only thing left of Green Pastures is the outside of the building. Frankly, if this review was to compare Mattie's to... More

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner and hadn't been back since our rehearsal dinner 35 years ago. The food was wonder and the restoration was beautifully done, however the menu was a bit limited.

First, I want to say that I probably will return, simply because the food was so good. However, the service was s-l-o-w, both in the bar and when we moved to the dining room for dinner. In fact, it wasn't just slow, it was odd (asking several times for salt and pepper, which seemed to really throw our server; not... More

Very Nice family oriented facility. Beautiful outdoor seating or enjoy unique antique indoor seating. Food is freshly prepared with eye for detail in presentation. However menu is limited for selection. Service is friendly and attentive as well.

A meal at Green Pastures is like stepping back in time. The high ceilings and creaking hardwood floors create an excellent ambiance. The menu, while not remotely avant guarde, can be counteed upon to be consistently good. The Sunday Brunch is great for families.

The grounds are beautiful near this old mansion converted to a restaurant. Look for the live peacocks. The brunch buffet is extensive, including well labeled salads, appetizers including delicious salmon, main dishes including carved prime rib, sides and desserts. Prices are high but worth the special experience. Make a reservation and check the web site before you dine. Order from... More

I know Green Pastures is considered an old Austin institution and I've dined there several times, but I've never walked out of there overly impressed with their food or service. My recent visit was probably my last. It was for lunch and the entire meal took over two and a half hours to complete and the food, from a limited... More
