I have eaten at Hill's periodically over the last few years. They are in a great location for me and some friends to meet up for lunch. The food can range from great to average, although recently it has been better than average. The kitchen is prone to backing up so don't come here if you have a time crunch.... More

Our first visit was really great, so we had high hopes. Sadly, on our second visit almost everything went wrong. It took 50 minutes to get our meals, from the time we ordered. Two of the orders were wrong, and two plates came out of the kitchen stone cold. It took so long for the replacements to arrive that our... More

My Son lives in Austin. He's had good experience here with brunch and suggested we meet here. Nice guitar duo playing, not rowdy for a Friday night. Seems family safe - kids are here. So good, so far. I saw others ordering sizzling steak. I ordered the sizzling ribeye. Tough, under cooked and not sizzling! I might come back, but... More

We had an experience that I don't believe is consistent based on other's feedback, but unfortunately the perfect storm must have happened the day we tried out this restaurant. Our order ranged from chicken fried steak to grilled chicken salad to 2 grilled chicken sandwiches. Half of our order came out great, the chicken fried steak was amazing, and the... More

We've eaten here many times over the years when visiting Austin. The food seems to be more mediocre every time we come. This time my BBQ dish arrived with over cooked dry meat and very cold BBQ sauce. After waiting for some time to ask the waitress to bring hot sauce, I had to find her in the kitchen to... More

Week Night Dinner The waiter did well. When we asked questions that he did not know the answer, he went and asked. No problem with that. All of the food was good. The kids liked the grilled cheese.

Well decided to visit one of the oldest cafes in Austin for Chicken Fried Steak Day and was not dissappointed. A must visit. The restaurant is in the old Travis County Courthouse, a bit of Texas nostalgia. Texas in and out in this place. Country decor to the max, but not obnoxious. The greeter was great and friendly, I was... More

Hill's was a favourite of mine in 1970's college days.....when we had $ for a restaurant meal treat. In those days you would usually run into Texas politicos and up and coming musicians. And the food was always as good as grandmas home cooking. Well, after 45 years, we finally returned, and what great memories. The food was still outstanding... More

I don't get out much when I'm home; but Saturday, I figured on treating my landlady to lunch. After seeing the mob of tourists on Congress, we moved further south and ended up at Hill's. We'd been there before, but it'd been like ten years ago. It was amazingly UNcrowded, the weather was exceptionally beautiful (we dined out back under... More

This is a pretty good place for a burger or chicken fried steak. There is plenty of food on the plate and at a pretty good price. The only thing is you have to wait a nit. The staff seems to be a bit slow, even when there are only a few people in the place. It has been around... More
