My husband and I stopped here for a lunch break while we were visiting different wineries in the area. We didn't know anything about it, but the smell from the smokers while driving past with the windows down convinced us to stop. It was a pleasant surprise. We split the BBQ platter, which is a BIG pulled pork sandwich served... More

Paulie's has great pulled pork and chicken sandwiches but it is the mac and cheese that I love. I have been for both lunch and dinner. And Paulie's supports local organizations which is another reason to go there.

Very good pulled pork sandwiches at a great price. After finishing either pulled pork or chicken sandwich you won't be hungry!!

We got the pulled pork dinner - plenty of pork with 4 rolls - added the coleslaw. Paulie's never disappoints - well cooked, moist and the perfect balance of sauce. We also grabbed some hot sauce - it is hot but very good. Try the coleslaw - not overpowering - jus a perfect balance

Paulie's is never going to win a contest with décor and ambience as criteria. But the barbeque is to die for. Five years ago my wife and I bought a second home at Wintergreen Resort and we passed Paulie's several times before finally stopping. Now we stop at every opportunity. Why? Paulie's pork barbeque is just the tastiest ever. There... More

Very basic but good. Nothing fancy or cutting edge. Just a metal smoker burning wood and pork shoulder and chicken in aluminum pans being smoked. The pork BBQ is pulled and then mixed with a ketchup-based BBQ sauce as is typical in Virginia. The chicken is roasted and smoked with sauce served on the side. They have cole slaw, macaroni... We stopped here on a bit of a whim. The exterior looks really run down, but the smells coming from the Bar-B-Q were amazing. One of those "it is either going to be great, or not..." places to be sure. The BBQ sandwiches were top-flight. Absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and quick. We would certainly stop the next time we... More

My husband and I were driving along some backroads outside of Charlottesville, and happened to pass Paulie's as we were heading to a nearby antiques barn. Even though it wasn't quite 10am, they had the smokers fired up and smelling great as we drove by. We made a point to make sure we came back by for lunch. We split... More
