Very neat little place with a historic feel, obviously with all the history behind it. The floors are wood and creaky and a lot of times they serve old time dishes like peanut soup. Food is preety good but you are really going for the atmosphere here.

Gadsby's is best seen as a place of history as well as cuisine. The colonial fare & service are fine, if a bit touristy, but what heritage! The place was the site of inaugural dances for Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, & Monroe. The place was bought by the man, John Wise, who lent Washington money for his first inaugural. Andrew... More

We were really looking forward to a nice brunch to top off a very special weekend, and had been recommended Gadsbys by a friend. The welcoming hostess was lukewarm, but our server was charming and helpful. The dining room was nicely laid out and all the servers in period costume, a nice touch. The building is charming and though old... More

A historical spot to get a good meal. Went for brunch and while the meal was good, the meal took a long time to come out. The waitress was very friendly and more than accommodating since I was there with both of my children.

And we found it!! From the clothing of our waitress, feeling like we had stepped back in time to eating a meal that was delicious and appropriate to that time period! A fun evening for these history buffs!

We came to Old Towne for lunch st this historic tavern and hoped for a great lunch and history lesson. The building dates back to the 1780s with even George Washington dining here. Thomas Jefferson held his inauguration ball here. We got a nice table and ordered some wine. The menu offerings were classic and the food was perfect. The... More

While staying in historic Old Town Alexandria be sure to check out this restaurant. Dining areas are situated in historic rooms and there's a unique colonial menu to match. The ales offered were delicious and our meals were very good. If you're looking for some unique American history (George Washington ate there and Thomas Jefferson's inaugural ball was held here)... Didn't dream I. Oils have such a lovely dessert menu at an old tavern. Selection was great, prices fair, service good, unbeatable ambiance. I had the bread pudding, which I always have and it was delicious. '

Good food, if a little expensive, in the colonial style. Service was good, food was great, parking a hassle, they are handicapped accessible.

I went here for NYE and it was magnificent! The food was amazing and the wait staff top notch. I plan to go back for lunch or dinner very soon. The NYE menu was a fixed menu but they serve all sorts of things during the rest of the year. It is a bit pricey but worth every penny.
