My wife and I took a friend for dinner. It was our first time dining here. Food was good. Service was good. Portions were large.

We had 14 people.....the young man who waited on us didn't miss a beat. He got all the drink orders and food orders correct and didn't bat an eye when we ask for separate checks. The food is excellent and always hot and great tasting.
Stopped by the Ashburn location November 10th, Thursday evening after a business meeting and sat at the bar (Raquel V). Ordered a beer and my favorite angry mussels - all was good. Ordered two lobster rolls and requested substitute corn on both orders to "go". ...These were for my wife and 90-year-old mother-in-law. Also ordered two desserts. Got home to Manassas and to our surprise - no fries - missed on both orders. Then we noticed that the quantity of lobster was about half the portion of our dine-in experience at the South Riding location. (We order this once a month). I called that evening to share this bad news and a young man took by email and claimed that he would send a gift card. Nothing received Friday. Called again and spoke with John - Mgr trainee - still nothing!More
On the 9th of July, we went to Fords Fish Shack in Ashburn for a seafood meal, including raw oysters ( which were very good as usual). however, we also ordered a plate of steamers ("Steamah") clams as well. We were very excited to have...these since we had both not had them in some time and were very much looking forward to them. The disappointment came immediately upon the plate being placed on the table. The Steamers smelled terrible and tasted equally as bad. When we mentioned it to the waiter, we were told that "that 's what they smell like". We asked that they be taken away, as the very smell was turning our stomachs. I did not want to argue with the waiter, but I know that is [not] what steamers smell like. My wife and I are both seafood lovers, and have eaten clams in various ways over the years, and know what well seemed clams smell and taste like, and that's not it. I did not like the condescending response but chose not to argue with the waiter. To their credit, however, they took the clams off our bill without our asking but did not offer us any concessions. I like Fords, and it's very near our home, so we will likely go back, but I hope the next visit is much better.More
Great seafood and the secure was amazing. The adult beverages were amazing. Monday's there is $1 oysters which were well worth the money!!
So glad I stopped here on my way to the airport! Enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere and friendly staff. Most of all the clams, shrimp and crab legs. Good value for cost!
If you like seafood, stop by and check it out. I just found the food to be average. Fish and chips: chips were good as was the coleslaw. Fish taste was good but over cooked. Clam chowder was OK. Salmon over cooked.
I'm not sure why, but Ford's Fish Shack has lost its luster. Perhaps it was fall-out from the COVID pandemic, supply lines cut, new cooks in the kitchen, or simply lax management, but what was once a dining delight is now an overpriced greasy spoon...where the fish is cold, over-cooked, and nearly flavorless. And I understand the lack of staff requires some level of patience, but the server we had was not just slow, she seemed irritated by our very presence. Normally I don't give this kind of slip-shod dining a second chance, but given the many lovely past experiences at Ford's, we went back not twice, but three times . . . Never again.More
Tony, thanks for the feedback. We really appreciate that you gave us so many tries. I'm going to pass this on to Tony. Please feel free to shoot him an email with your contact info so he can reach out tony@fordsfishshack.com
When you are located miles and miles from the shore, and you serve great seafood, that is a mark of great ownership, management, and employees. Total experience was fantastic. Will be back again and again.
ISC&, thank you for taking the time to review us. I'm glad you could tell that our seafood comes fresh from the coast. We look forward to your return!
First experience for lunch was a great one. Attractive restaurant, solid menu, great service, good food, reasonable prices given the quality. You'll leave satisfied.
Americansportswriter, just wanted to share this note with you and thank you for taking that leap of faith and giving us a try for the first time. I hope that you will join us again soon.
Lately every visit something goes poorly. This time they served the RI style calamari with orange and yellow bell pepper slices versus the right peppers. Ruined the whole item. Last visit was like someone spilled salt in the batter fried food was nearly inedible. King...Street has become our go-to seafood place now.More
ExRiGuy, thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us. I am sorry that your visit went poorly. Hope you will give us another try sometime.
The family got together for brunch. We started with raw blue point oysters. They were excellent. The rocket shrimp was delicious! 6 tempura shrimp, with a sweet and sour sauce. We then shared a Connecticut lobster roll it was delicious as well. The others enjoyed...crab cake Benedict and seafood plate. Everyone liked the food. The only negative was our first server was not wearing a mask. We had two unvaccinated kids. The management sent out a substitute. It was a good visit!More

Was really excited about eating here and it did not disappoint! would definitely visit again. Oysters were fresh and really good lobster. Service was also amazing. Awesome food!
Allecu21, thanks for the great review. Our oysters are all $1 each on Mondays. Hope to see you then sometime.
Truly the best swordfish I’ve ever had. The raw oyster were really fresh and tasty too. The key lime pie was yummy as well. The waitress cared. I saw her cleaning the seats in her section to make sure no one sat on crumbs. My...only critique was the coffee, it was a bit cool and cheap tasting. I think they should serve better coffee and after dinner drinks. Still a very good restaurant for seafood. I highly recommend.More
Jeremy, really appreciate you highly recommending us. Our oysters are all just $1 each on Mondays. Hope to see you then some time. Thanks for the kind words.
I was concerned about proper distancing during outside and indoor dining during this time of Covid, but I needn't have worried. Nice large table, lots of space and staff members who were sure to keep us safe. The food was very good. One of us...had the blackened scallops which he loved. Another had the fish of the day, which was well prepared.More
Rose, happy to hear you saw we take the pandemic seriously and want to make sure everyone leaves healthy, safe, AND full of good food. Hope to see you again soon.
