Beautiful building which is worth visiting. Do not expect high quality pastries or bakery items which will not be found anywhere in Brazil anyhow. Is a historical place more than a gastronomic destination

If you want to visit a historical place and to have a delicious and tasty food, you have to go there. The building is very beautiful. The place is in old city of Rio de Janeiro. They have been there since 1894. They serve a very good food. The staff is not so attentive, because they have a lot of... More

I visited the Cafe do forte, in Copacabana twice. Everything we ordered was super tasty. We had a delicious breakfast and the. Some snacks in the afternoon. The place is full of history. A must see. We will try the main place next month when we're in Rio for Carnival.

Its true there is a waiting line although it went pretty fast, but we didnt think the food had anything special. By the way, dont ever try the pão de queijo nor the coxinha. We stayed in the lower salloon, which has very big and beautiful mirrors. I think it was good to visit just for this time.

Colombo is a famous for the many large mirrors covering its side walls, as well as the vast interior. As a restaurant, it is not really that great. Over the years the placed declined noticeably. The pastel de nata was once as good as the ones from Portugal, but nowadays I am not even sure they still carry it. They... More

So beautiful! It's worth to pay the high prices just to enjoy your time there. Go early. We arrived before 9am and got a table immediately; 15min later there were already people queuing waiting for a table (quite long queue btw).

It is an extremely charming and traditional restaurant. A buffet is served on the second floor. Excellent food for lunch. The place it self, with it's interesting and well preserved architecture is a must go in Rio.

Not cheapest, not the best, but the culture is in the walls, a mist for everybody in Rio. You have to og for the secondfloor, have some wine, have a god lunch and relax.

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
