The place itself is good but not that extraordinary. It's the location that's really nice. Pastries are good and fresh so grab a few and a couple of ice cold beers and sit down on the wall outside. Very relaxed environment. It's usually packed with people so you might have to wait a little until you find somewhere to sit.

Every time I go to Rio - once a year, to visit family - I go to Bar Urca. This venerable old bar serves wonderful food; most importantly, it serves the best 'petiscos' in Rio. You can sit on the sea wall and order food and drink or sit inside in air-conditioned comfort. Either way, you get a beautiful view... More

Dishes looked great on the menu, but were actually quite bland. Average service and expensive for what it offers.

it's a great option to know a tipical local bar. You can choose to eat great apetizers on sidewalk with a great view of sunset or to have dinner at the restaurant on the second floor. Specialized in seafood.

We were picked up for our Sunset Tour here. DDrio knows how to welcome their guest. The place is just perfect to enjoy a cold beer.

In a secluded neighborhood, a good restaurant and bar with a super view! The restaurant is very good but the bar is an even better experience. Do as the Cariocas: buy your drink and your food and jojn them on the other side of the street for a good chat and a beautiful view.

If you want to know the tradicional Urca neighborhood this is the best restaurant to visit. Ask for "camarão na moranga" and be prepared to have one of the best meals of your life. People also stay outside to talk and drink, if you wanna try arrive early (before the sun set). I love this place !

A must do if you're in Rio. Order a beer and "pastéis", lean or sit on the wall by the bay and enjoy the great view!

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
