Staff was really nice and helpful. Also the food was very good, especially when your a "cringo" as the name says already. Definitely worth going there for breakfast. Be sure to calculate some extra waiting time because it is a popular thus busy spot :)

Came here twice for breakfast in Rio. This place has typical US diner fare, but I found it was of better quality than I had at home. My travelling partner said that the pancakes were some of the best she's had (they were that darker brown color that gives the slight bitter taste when they hit your tongue). The hash... More

Best pancakes in town! Nice staff and quick service. They could improve on the fruit juice though. It tasted plain, not much fruit in there.

This little place is just the ticket if you're feeling homesick for the U.S., and for American brunch and breakfast in particular. Whoever runs it know what we miss, and they do a great job of turning out pancakes, eggs and bacon, Mac n cheese, etc., just like we like it. Their bacon is perfection, and the pancakes are straight... More

the atmosphere is simple on a street in Ipanema a little beyond the hustle. The menu is American - pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, burgers, fries... a reasonable price for the neighborhood, service fairly prompt and friendly. I've heard the owner is American. some of the pies - apple - and cakes - carrot, red velvet - looked well done.

I wrote review a couple of months ago and I wasn't going to visit again based on my experience. I decided to go back a couple more times and the experience had changed. It appeared more organized, employees paying attention to the customers and the food was presented well. I will go back! Much better.

I cooked in restaurants for many years, and the first impression I had from the Gringo Cafe is that the cooks are legitimate and the food is handled cleanly and professionally. That is not always easy to find. On top of that, it's good. Genuine home scratch cooking done by people who really know how to cook. The staff is... More
