"Sentaí" has always been a legend on Rio de Janeiro's restaurant scene and I had heard a lot about it and its traditional seafood and Portuguese cuisine. It is located in the very old Rio's center, behind the "Central do Brasil" railway station. The area is terrible and not at all recommended to foreigners (and Brazilians, too). It is not... More

My boyfriend bought a Grupon voucher and we went there to have a shrimp day. The location is not good at all! The street is under reform and the rain on the previous day made a big mess and sludge. The palce is very traditional but has to improve the structure, can no longer live in the past golden days.... More

I had worst lobster in my life! And price was 70 usd!!!! It was so oily and dry at the same time, seemed like cooked few days ago. Bolinhos de bacalhau - well - even in quiosque in Copa they cook better! It was worst meal ever! Maybe they served us poor quality food because we were gringos, who knows..... More

It's well known in Rio as "The King of Lobster" (O Rei da Lagosta) and it's worth it! You have nice options not only for lobster, but shrimp, cod fish and others with a very good ration cost / benefit! It's not so easy to get there and the surroundings are quite strange with very old houses and some slums... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
