The food is greasy, overpriced, service could not be worse. The view to the square and operahouse pays for the experience.

It's in the downtown. Then there are too many pickpockets around. Thus it's too dangerous. It's so dirty. Bad service and too much expensive. I'll not come back to there.

Since 1921 this traditional bar restaurant in downtown Rio De Janeiro is well known for its very cold draft beer "chope" and a great view of the Theatro Municipal. I recommend to go there during the weekend because during the week days this particular area is very crowd it. You can get there by taking the subway and exit on... More

We went there in order to have a decent buffet. The variety was amazing and the food delicious. After some.hours both of us felt seriously sick. Some of the food must have been contaminated and not refrigerated properly. Sometimes it's worth paying more for quality

I went there in order to have lunch in our downtown journey because we were told that there we could get a very good Feijoada. No sooner did we arrived than a group of waiters started to call us to have a seat, in a very violent way. The place was almost empty, although it was 1 p.m. of a... More

It is a great experience for any tourist in Rio, just to sit at Amarelinho by the end of the day, have a large & chilling mug of draft beer (CHOPP!), some appetizers, and just watch as thousand of 'cariocas' pass by, with the beautiful view of Theatro Municipal at your left, Museu Nacional right in front of you.

One caipirinha just about did me in. They're not the cheapest in the city (20R?) but they sure make it worth the price. Plus great outdoor seating where you can people watch on the plaza. A perfect way to kill the time between museums and dinner. Cheers!

It's old, it's simple, but still with great food! The filet "à Osvaldo Aranha" is a must prove! Highly recommend it.

Beautiful location with a view of the architecturally stunning theatre house. Traditional dishes that taste like home cooked meals. I had the Bbq plate which was a grilled steak. My son ordered grilled chicken. Both came with a lot of white rice and even more potato chips! It Included peas and hearts of palm salad and fried breaded banana (not... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
