Just off the beach, the Confeitaria Ipanema is always crowded. Sandwiches, fresh squeezed Juices and Smoothies are part of the menu. Doesn't matter what you're looking for, sweet, salty, cold drink, coffee or cake, they’ve got it. Just tell the cashier what you want, pay and take the ticket she gives you to the counter. You can take your food... More

Very traditional, counter service style, Brazilian bakery. Inexpensive and perfect for breakfast, beach snacks, quick bites, etc. If you're looking into trying typical pastries I recommend pão de queijo, coxinha, risoles and empada. As for sweets brigadeiro and casadinho are staples.

Big Ipanema is kinda like a Big Mac, just way better. Instead of Ketchup and condiments, you get lettuce, tomato and onions. Instead of a burger, you get fillet mignon. Instead of Soda, ask for a large fresh squeezed OJ. Instead of fries...well, just don't ask for fries. But, you can geta desert. You've earned it. Get a sonho, which... More

Heading to the beach and want to pick up some pastels, cookies, juice, or even chocolate mousse to go without breaking the bank? This place has you covered (and then some). Not mind-blowing food by any means, but it will do in a pinch (except the pao de queijo, which is inexplicably bad). Grab some food and head to the... More

Great place. Huge selection of cookies and pastries. They also have an expresso bar in one corner. Can be a little hard to navigate at times because of the huge crowds. Almost a tourist attraction. But locals love the place.

I am weak when it comes to fresh baked goods- so running into this place was awesome! We couldn't decide on just one treat so we had 3- bolo de Aipim, Bohlo de miel and a palmiera. (Unsure of the spelling). To drink we had expressos. You see locals coming to stand at the counter to drink a quick coffee... More

If you are in Rio, and you have just left Ipanema beach, after a day of surfing, you gotta stop at Padaria Ipanema. Since my teenage years hanging out in front of it, with other like minded surf kids, Padaria Ipanema has hit the spot. The food is also great. Try a Big Ipanema sandwich: ipanema's response to the big... More

It's a typical padaria. It is very well known about locals who stop by there to buy salgados (typical savoury pastries). The Padaria is big and always crowded. Is divided into drinks, sweets and cookies, cakes and savoury salgados. Don't miss their bolinhos de bacalau (stockfish croquette)or coxinhas de frango (chicken croquette). We go there to eat the sonho, a... More

We hit this place a few times while in Rio. It has amazing pastries and a really huge assortment. Pao de Queijo, brigadero, trança do doce de leche e coco, folheado de queijo, esfiha, sucos...you can't go wrong.

Padaria Ipanema is a classic in Rio, lot's of options an not very pricey. The downside of it is that nothing is very good. If you need a quick food go there, other wise try better options as Talho Capixaba or Cia do Pao.
