Mud Bug is a nice bar in Copacabana, close to the beach and to a metro station. They have differents types of beers from around the world and they are always cold...wich is important in Rio's hot weather.

Nice place to drink several types of beer and drinks. Very good atmosphere and background music. I do not think it's a place to eat, it's more like a bar. Like several places of this type in rio de janeiro, one pays nothing of what he orders. Everything is loaded into an "entry card" that just when one wants to... More

I ordered pizza as a quick fix to sort out my rumbling stomach and whilst size wise it was ok, it was very basic and the base wasn't properly cooked - still dough.

The atmosphere was alright, except for somewhat aggressive security men protecting the bar. The menu looked nice at first glance. However, the quality of food and drinks was really bad. I tried the shrimp po'boy, onion rings and a regular caipirinha. Everything was oversalted to the extent it was inedible. Even caipirinha was salty. As far as Louisiana cuisine goes,... More

Visited with husband early evening. They insisted we have a payment card each then got charged 20 reals each because they had music on. Couple we with with paid per couple. We were only there for one drink. And it's just an average bar - there are plenty of others around that don't charge. I hate to be ripped off... More

Everything was terrible: 1. We had to get the menu ourselves (and go call the waitress to take our order) 2. Waited for 20 min for the drinks that were ready at the bar, and we could see them 3. The waitress forgot 1/2 main courses 4. Didn't apologise for that 5. Waited 1 hour for a salad 6. The... More

My husband & I visited Rio for a week in June 2016 from the United States. This was one of our favorite bars that we found in Copacabana, we ended up going there 3 of the nights we were there. Great music, great bartenders, great drinks. Walking distance from all the hotels along the beach. Highly recommend!

Very unfriendly place, dark, very inefficient, expensive and it felt like you are checking in to a hospital rather than walking freely in to a bar the way it should be, no smiles what so ever....????!!!

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
