This a very tradional place in Rio de Janeiro being a 115 year-old restaurant. It is rather simple but confortable. So is the menu made of recipes that turned this place famous for, mainly roasted goat, roasted boar and roasted piglet. The roasted goat being the most well-known. Also the restaurant stays open until very late at night making it... More

Lovely traditional food, simple decor friendly staff, amazing tender lamb dinner. Strange high pitched noise during meal.

I visited this place with Trip Advisor's reviews. The famous "Portuguese cousine" doesn't exist, it is expensive and the place doesn't have any interesting. Really I don't recommend somebody, specially I don't recommend to foreigners visiting Rio de Janeiro. They offer meat, potato and rice as "Portuguese cousine", and the meat is terrible.

A very traditional and old restaurant with an amazing food, quality and service. It is not a fancy restaurant but it's worthwhile the visit.

Food was tasty and very typically Portuguese with great picanha meat, brocoli rice and fries. Not especially high quality food nor a fancy place, but great dining options if you're with a group of friends! Dishes are very reasonably priced (230 reals for 4 people, including several drinks) Overall good experience at Nova Capela!

This old-fashioned restaurant is located in the heart of Lapa's nightlife area. They serve traditional Brazilian fares at reasonable prices. Their signature dish is cabrito (baby goat) with boccoli-rice. But they also offer other unusal menu options such as wild boar. Worth a try.

Started a 6 hour food tour of Rio here. Only had fried cod balls and a great pineapple/mint drink. The place is charming and based on the sample I had, well worth returning to for a full meal.

Although the lamb, the Portuguese potatoes and the broccoli rice are very good, the place is more expensive than I expected and could be nicer. It is too old and needs some renovation.

Loud and somewhat dirty hole in the wall. Not cheap either. I paid $25 US during lunch for an overfried piece of tilapia with three mounds of mashed potatoes, a salad and water. Expensive for what it was and the place.

One of, if not the most traditional restaurant in Lapa neighborhood. It's old fashioned Rio style and some of the waiters are well known to customers for having worked there for decades. It is not a very nice or safe place outside, the best option is to take an Uber straight to its door. As for the food, the portions... More
