We visited again on a busy weekend in Santa Teresa. Aside from a bit of delay from the waiters, the food was spectacular. We had ordered the pasteis de camarão (shrimp pastry) which, living here for so long, continue to be some of the best I have had. After we had the beer-batered shrimp. There was no denying how fresh... More

The owners husband is supposed to be a boat owner who brings the fish fresh. This place used to be a popular bar and has grown into a somewhat pertinacious restaurant with high prices specializing in fish dishes, which if you are Brazilian, as I am, are not well prepared. The last time I went I verified that no changes... More

the appetizers - codfish fritters and ceviche were good, average fare for rio, but the main courses were drenched in salt. I wouldn't go back.

What is going on here it's hard to describe. Its a bar in Sante Theresa that's tried to invent itself as as a fish restraunt with completely over the top prices to catch people. My wife wanted garlic prawns the starter was $100 US so we ordered that of course it was not available as the have no fresh fish... More

Visiting Santa Teresa for a music festival, I came across Sobrenatural, which is primarily a fish and seafood restaurant. The décor, like the rest of the area, is bohemian with distressed wooden tables and a warm fun feel. The food (grilled baby octopus) was good although maybe a little overcooked. The atmosphere was excellent, but became a little too loud... More

We had some pasteis to start, siri queijo e camarao, crab, cheese and shrimp. Not really special. Then we shared the moqueca which was really not good. The fish was well cooked but the moqueca sauce was not how it's supposed to be. Something was off sure what, but made for an unpleasant meal. Our friends had the octopus rice... More

I was two weeks ago in this restaurant. The location is magic , Sobrenatural is in Santa Teresa a characteristic and historic borough of Rio. It was a high class borough, in fact most of the building are colonial villas, then between seventies and eighties was decayed and now is a bohemian place with bars, petit hotels and restaurant. The... More

The caipirinhas are very good, and you can ask for different kinds of cachaças. As for the food, I would strong recommend grilled fish from the Amazonian region (pirarucu or other).

After eating churrascos almost everyday in Rio, my body started to crave something different so we decided to visit this place for some Seafood. This place did not disappoint. The food was great and the service was phenomenal. We order Coco Do Surubim and it was delicious. We also had the fish ceviche, pasta with seafood and the seafood soup.... More

Almost completely empty on a Saturday night, after our meal I am not surprised. Starters were acceptable, Ceviche for my wife and grilled prawns for me, a huge portion, we then followed with a moqueca for two, we both thought that it was one of the most disgusting dishes we had ever experienced, and left most of it. We finished... More

Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
