We couldn't of had a worse night. Terrible service from staff who clearly didn't want to be there, warm beer and overpriced mediocre food. Japanese is our favourite food but if it exists in Rio we can't find it. 0 stars

The place is a hole in the ground. It is expensive as a sushi restaurant in the states but far from being good as them. The sushi was the same as a normal "all you can eat". We paid 45$ each and just got some sushi and some rools. I don't mind to pay more, but I want more and... More

We ordered one medium sashimi assortment, one small nigiri assortment, plus shrimp tempura and edamame along with 4 beers. We paid over 500brl! The food was delicious, service was efficient (we sat at the counter) and the restaurant setting very basic and functional (as opposed to sophisticated and charming) and much like i had found in tokyo and kyoto restaurants... I have been there a couple times already during the last 9 years and it keeps all its good s and unfortunately all the bads also: very good food withe traditional dishes that you wont find anywhere, very expensive prices and very poor table service.

The quality is the same as a normal Japanese restaurant or a bit lower, but the price is too high. You can expend the same amount of money in very good Japanese restaurant in the same city.

I'm spurred to write this review after having stumbled upon the TA reviews of Azumi, one of my tried-and-true favorites in my hometown of Rio. Let me start by adding two pieces of (relevant, IMHO) color for the proceeding review: (1) I haven't been to Azumi in two years (since my last visit to Rio - but this was not... More

Food is good, service is decent, however it is extremely expensive for what it offers. You can find better Japanese restaurants in Rio at the same price range. The environment is really close to a traditional restaurant in Japan, but it could be so much better. 3 stars only.

I love this place because you are never disappointed. The fish is always very fresh and varied, which is great as most sushi places in Rio tend to do mostly salmon. The service is pretty good too.

Would I be blind and all possible defects would be covered up . That is to say that all that matters it is not just the quality of the food. That was indeed very good. Sometimes I have the feeling that all Japanese restaurants have the same taste. This is certainly not the case with Azumi . Even the sashimi was... More

Great sushi place! Really traditional, old fashioned sushi, but really, really good. Expensive, but I've paid close for worse food, so it is worthwhile. U know what, I'm going back there right now for more...hahaha

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
