This is the restaurant of Kandy City Hotel. You may have fine dining in this place. If you want you may have liquor as well. Food is really tasty. Prices are reasonable. Staff is helpful.

I use to go there for a 'yard of tea'. Now the restaurant is very flash, clean with good service. I asked for tea & was presented with a lovely big pot. Sadly no yard of tea, but the place was worth the visit.

When I was a kid growing up in Kandy town there were only two decent restaurants: Paivas and Elephant House Cafe. A few days ago, I re-entered Paiva's Restaurant after 47 years! The ambience was welcoming. Air conditioning the best in Kandy. The staff were overtly caring. My table of choice was perfectly laid out with its cutlery and crockery.... More

I remember walking to Paivais with my mother after church every Sunday to by their delicious Sunday special biryani. This was around 10-15 years back but I can still recall the excitement I had over their food.

Paiva's have been a name in catering in Sri Lanka for over 50 years. They have a restaurant in Kandy, serving typical Sri Lnkan food. The place is for locals and can be hot and typical. However the food is excellent and is ideal to take away. Light snakcs for lunch or for simply sitting by the lake is ideal.... More

This was one of the Oldest surviving Restaurants in Kandy. It was owned by the Paiva family and moved to various members through about 3 generations, ( started off as Paivas Tea Room) It was more renowned for their good pastries. Alas the restaurant is no more, on my last visit to Kandy I missed this landmark.

Visited on a Sunday and we were the only people in there! Ordered two curries and although mine was fine my girlfriends Paneer curry had no paneer and potato instead! Curries were ok, reasonable but with no atmosphere I would suggest there's better places to visit.

Was there recently and even though the place is ordinary as many others in this country;the grub is good and reasonably priced. In general in Sri Lanka food will never be a great chip in your walllet.

we had a great Kuthu Rotti here but it isn't on the menu (!!!) we asked the waiter what Sri Lankan food they do as the menu is just Chinese and European. Very tasty and very well priced.

Thank David A
