We only went here because of a couple of reviews said how good it was. It now seems that a lot of people who write these reviews are literally "taken in" by, in this case the restaurant owner, into giving them rave reports. The beer was...almost boiling but would be happy if they had some ice. No ice!!!! Ordered our food and knew we were into a long wait when the owner pulled up a chair and joined us. Needles to say no other patrons. One hour and ten minutes later and we had food. Which was one of the worst meals we had in Sri Lanka. Decor is in the mood of Bob Marley and reggae.Went out years ago, like this place should.More

After the restaurant was destroyed in 2004 by the Tsunami it was build up again in a very creative way. The atmosphere in there is just great. Not only the atmosphere is great, but also the owner. We ordered rice and curry, a beer and...a watermelon juice. As he makes everything completely fresh, you just need to bring some time :) but time goes by fast as there is great music in the restaurant. He didnt have beer in the restaurant, but he immediately arranged to get some. The curries are great and the owner is such a lovely person. Definitely worth a visit when being in Tangalle!More

The best secret place to have a drink in an alternative way. Not on the sea front. Not in a lovely place. But super fun. Go there for a beer at least.

Very cozy and nice place with the most wonderful staff and food! Rice and curry was one of the best ones we have had in Sri lanka and Prem even taught us some yoga. We are more than happy to recommend this place to anyone!

We found this place whilst looking for a cooking lesson in Tangalle. We agreed to go on the Friday night and arrived at 5pm to be met with a drink and a lovely history of the area from the host! We were giving a cooking...lesson by the owners daughter who was really helpful (they accommodated my vegetarianism easily!), met all the family and then sat down to a tasty meal that was far too much food for the two of us but was, nonetheless, delicious. Best Dahl we had on the island and the nicest people who were able to sit and talk with us. Cook artwork too!More

A very friendly and authentic place to eat. We really enjoyed the curry and juices - I'd advice you to try and call ahead as otherwise you might need to wait as they seemed to prepare everything from scratch (even going to the market to...buy the pineapple!)More

I am afraid to say that the previous reviews set this place on far too high a pedestal. Three of us arrived for lunch and basically the ingredients for everything we ordered - bar the potatoes for the chips had to be purchased first -...the beers/ the fish/ the prawns. This meant that lunch was a lengthy business despite us being the only customers. It is clear that this hand to mouth system was not from choice but it made the dining experience less than comfortable. The preparation of the food - once purchased - was ok and the dishes, when served were pleasant enough but not the gastro event we had anticipated.More

Very good homemade quality food, sweet host and completely true surroundings right in their home. It was raining when we were there so we were inside. Can't speak of the outdoors ambience. Very enjoyable and far from being a normal alienating restaurant.

We were told by a friend that we must visit this restaurant whilst in Sri Lanka. It did not disappoint. Samen who runs it was delightful and the food was excellent. As with most Sri Lankan restaurants, you order one curry and with that comes...at least another 5 sides. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it.More

Very simpel but the food tasted delicious. The family was friendly and the place was awesome. Located at the same side as the bus station.
