Had the nyonya laksa and cendol. When the cendol was served, the presentation was great--gula melaka sauce of shaved ice and fresh green jelly. Later, after the ice melt, the drink was average. The laksa was a bit of a disappointment. Although the taste and...color was superb, the sauce consistency is diluted. And, more meat and veggie ingredients would be better. And, initially, the boss was standoffish. But, once we started talking to him, he opened up and told us about the local Nyonya culture.More

Nasi Lemak? Move over Old Town and Madam Kwan. Fragrance blue rice at its best, beef rendang is tender and flavourful. Cendol was not bad, bubu chacha is thicker and sweet. Signature broth is good, but portion is small and not much to accompany the...beehoon. Unless you a small eater then it is ok. Price is slightly cheaper than regular cafe. Their interior setup is like an antique peranakan home. Will be back.More

This is our second trip to Melaka and one of the things we looked forward to was eating at this place . The Laksa is very good and only 10.80myr and I also love the green apple mint . My husband rated the beef rendang...and the beef was so tender .More

Ta Chi Nonya was recommended by a local gentleman to have authentic Nyonya food. So, I was there well before lunch time and found the place quiet interesting. The restaurant is perhaps about 30 years old and housed in a hundred year old building. I...met the owner who greeted me and briefly told me about the Prerankan heritage and Nyonya food. He also proudly told that lots of celebrities of this part of the world had visited the place and tested food. All of their photos are proudly framed on the wall. I decided to try at least one authentic Nayana dish which was Nayona Nasi Lemak, the basic one without any meat. After serving I realized there is a unique color on the top of the rice. Learned that it comes from flower of Clitoria ternatea, commonly known as Asian pigeonwings, bluebellvine, blue pea, butterfly pea, cordofan pea and Darwin pea, and is a plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae. The flower is known to me and I’ve recently seen chef’s using the color from the flower by distilling process and mixing it to doughs for making various dumpling type foods.More

Was recommended by my sister, it was worth the dining at an old charm nyonya deco & authentic peranakan dishes. We tried a few dishes & their laksa is fiery hot at the first sip! For hot spicy food lover try this & you'd understand...when I say...smoke coming out from my nostrils & ears! Parking your vehicle could be a test to your patience, resourcefulness & quick witted.More

My sister who hailed from Peranakan hereditary brought us to this hidden eatery at the main road. Ordered Ayam Pongteh, Prawn Lemak, Fried Cencaluk Egg, Lady's Finger with Sambal and Fried Fish Cake. The menus are quite expensive compared to other Nyonya restaurant I've eaten....My sister commented the Pongteh doesn't taste the original Pongteh as few main ingredients were missing. The restaurant also quite warm and stuffy during hot sunMore

I don’t usually write poor review but this is an exception. This is a poorly managed shop with very bad services. Food is so so. If you have choice don’t come here. The lady boss is more interested in collecting money than ensuring their queue...customers are managed properly. The entrance looks like a fish market.More

This hidden gem is right between Ramada plaza & The Pines hotel. I had beef rendang, otak, Nyonya laska and chendol. The place is rustic and gives you nostalgic vibes which I enjoy. Their Otak and beef rendang is a must try and the owner...uncle is friendly.More
