It had been awhile since we last made a trip to The Ark. Our server was good and the food was good, BUT.....our order got mixed up with the table across from us and we had to mention that wasn't what we ordered. They also...miscalculated our bill. When we showed the cashier that, she told us that it was right! When checking us out, she then realized that it was WRONG and charged us the correct amount. She never smiled, apologized, nor thanked us for coming. When going there, double check your bill and be prepared for a hateful cashier who apparently doesn't like her job, and needs to be in another profession. Also, this must be the only place that charges for water!More
So sorry you had a bad experience. Unfortunately mistakes do happen. Can you please tell me what date you came in? I will speak with the cashier regarding her attitude no excuse for this. Also please explain what you are talking about when you say...More
We were really pleased with “The Ark.” The wait staff was fantastic. We had 4 different plates. Fried oysters, fried crab fingers, grilled catfish and an oyster Po boy. The side salad and the okra were also delicious. If you’re looking for a local restaurant...to try this would be a treat place to visit.More
Thank you for stopping by. We are glad you enjoyed the visit.
Food was greasy and they use too much breading. Got ours to go, even the bottom of the boxes had grease on them. Taste was mediocre because of the excess grease and breading on the fried foods.
So sorry you had a bad experience. Can you please give us time frame so we can discuss with the staff person responsible Thank you
Traveling through and lucked up on this place. The catfish and shrimp was amazing. Service was very good too!! We will definitely be stopping in here next time we come through!! The sweet tea, is also wonderful. One more thing... ask for the homemade ketchup!!!
Thank you for the review. We look forward to seeing you next time
You might need to look for it but if you love fried seafood, you will not be disappointed. We had the seafood platter that included catfish, shrimp, oysters, car cake and frog legs. All were very good. I especially liked the batter on the shrimp....Frog legs are not easy to find but they were wonderful. I hone not generally a fried person but would make an exception here.More
Thank you on your next trip try the fish and shrimp grilled. They are also very good . Of course its hard to beat a good ole fried fish.
This is a place to get good food. It is not fancy, but by the way the parking lot fills up, they seem to have a terrific following. We were staying at the RV Park next door, and Chris suggested we give this place a...try - glad we did. I walked over, and got a menu then placed our to-go order over the phone. Fried Oyster Dinner for me, and Jumbo Shrimp Dinner for my bride - Onion Rings & Coleslaw were my sides, she went with a Side Salad & Baked Beans. The food was hot, prepared properly, and very good. It came with the appropriate condiments as well as disposable eating utensils.More
Thanks for stopping in. We look forward to seeing you the next time you come through
This is the kind of restaurant I really enjoy; there's no pretense but there is good food. It's the kind of place stuffy relatives may criticize. Whole catfish were just right. Sweet tea was just right. Don't worry about dressing up. Don't worry about anything....Just go eat and have a good time.More
Thank you so much we look forward to seeing you next time
This is a small fish camp restaurant just off I-20 in Riverside AL. Don't get in a hurry as your order is cooked when placed. Food and employees are tops. We go often even though it is about a 30 minute drive.
Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip
had the fried cat fish, there was more bread crumbs on the fish then there was fish . had to take off to much bread crumbs to get to the small pieces of fish. on the positive note, the waitress was very friendly.
Great local, historic restaurant in the Riverside, AL area. Just east of Pell City on US Hwy 78. Known for catfish and fried seafood. The onion rings are wonderful.
Thank you so much we hope to see you again soon. Try the grilled catfish and shrimp it is excellent and guilt free LOL
Our group of six arrived on a Friday night and the place was packed. Fortunately, we were able to get a table quickly. A plate of hush puppies was brought out while we reviewed the menu. I ordered the 1 piece fried catfish filet with...baked potato and fried okra. It was a very large piece of fish and I took half of my meal home. Others in our party were pleased with their meals as well. Our server was attentive and pleasant.More
They were not too busy but we had to wait too long for the food and it was cold. The slaw was good but there was only a small portion of it. After we got home and I thought about it, I realized that we...were overcharged from what it said on the menu. We won’t be going back.More
I am so sorry you were not satisfied . Can you tell me the date and approximate time and what you had so I can look into this. Did you tell your server and what was the response. Hard as we try mistakes do happen...More
Because it’s made to order expect to wait a bit. It’s worth it as the food is freshly made to order. The onion rings are made fresh by hand. All in all excellent despite the wait. Well worth a visit. Or two
Thank you so much for visiting. We hope to see you again soon.
The food was excellent and you got plenty of it. The jumbo shrimp were large and delicious. 2 piece fish plate was more than you could eat! Little off the beaten path, but great little place.
