This was a good way to try chinese food without having to go to a truly local restaurant where people don't speak english and where they don't serve chicken; it is mostly aimed to companies and groups of business people, so it was elegant but not overly so, and the food was good, the prices were on par with other... We went to this place as it was highly recommended. The food was just ok, and the service was like they were doing us a favor. They recommended their crab dish- and it was $65 US dollars for a tiny crab. When I complained, the actually took $25 off the bill. This place is a tourist trap - stay away!

I had a large family-style dinner here with 9 friends and we shared 9 hot dishes and 9 cold dishes. The white fish was excellent, as well as the vegetable abalone. Would return again if I am back in Shanghai.

Jade Garden is called "Su Zhe Hui" in Chinese. Su Zhe Hui is my favorite Shanghai style restaurant. I have been to many branches in many cities, but this particular one was disappointing. The food was as good as always, but the Sheng Jian (fried dumplings) was already sold out at the time of 19:30, and also the steamed white... More

After days with long business meetings, we didn't want to go to far from the hotel in Pudong. This is an exellent option in teh IFC Mall. Very fresh and inventive Chinese cuisine served in a lovely dining room. Specializes in spicier dishes from Sichuan. Slightly higher than moderate prices, but well worth the upcharge. Good wine list. Since I... More

This was the best meal during my 4 day visit to Shanghai. Food was excellent, and not too expensive for a foreign tourist. Unlike many other shanghai restaurants, this one has a calm atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

First of all, the English name of this restaurant (蘇浙匯) should be Jardin de Jade (as printed in the card). The address listed in this page is the Huangpu branch, not the Pudong one. This restaurant has become rather famous in recent years since it was founded in late 1990s. Now it has over 20 outlets in different parts of... More

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
