The location is fine, with a river view. The food is not too impressive. The staff is not too proficient in English.

We went to this restaurant twice in 3 days it was that good, Right on the river with glorious views across to Pudong financial centre. The food was a mix of chinese and western food and food and drinks were so cheap. This place is a must if visiting Shanghai

Stumbled across this as we walked the Bund. Happily surprised with the beer list, even featured a good selection of NZ Tuatara beer. All reasonably priced, especially compared to our hotel tiger beer!! Setting is pretty awesome too.

We saw this place across the river decided to take a walk over the bridge. Walk thru a dodgy entrance guarded by the hotel.kept walking up some stairs and wow a great view and out door seating. The beer list is awesome and very reasonable. A crafty beer persons drama in Shanghai.

We have been at this restaurant twice. The terrace has a beautiful view on the bund and at the evening is really beautiful to dinner with the view of the colorful lights from the bund in front of view. The quality of the Chinese cousine offered in the restaurant is pretty good and the staff, although does not speak English,... More

If possible go there at night for a beer or drink: the view is very nice. The food is average but they had a very nice fruit platter.

I had a lovely lunch at the Seagull restaurant and bar. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with a great view. They do have menus in English with pictures on the menu. The staff speaks limited English, but we just pointed to what we wanted and all was good. The 9 ingredient dish and the duck stir fry were... More

There aren't a whole lot of places along the Bund with river-side view of Pudong new area, this place (and a couple of restaurants nearby) were about the only places we could see going North along the promenade. It's not a bad little bar - nice outdoor seating, staff were attentive enough and prices weren't ridiculous given the location. The... More

The food was very good, price very reasonable. The English of the staff is far better than my Chinese. There where pictures of the food. We had to understand the system of ordening food as foreigners we did not quite directly understand what the waiters where used to from their regular guests. Go to this place before they speak "tourist... More

Staying in Hongkou

Neighbourhood Profile
History oozes out of every fiber of the city, but Hongkou is a particularly notable neighborhood. Shanghai was a safe haven for about 20,000 Jews during the Second World War, and traces of this heritage can still be found in buildings and park monuments. Historic foreign relations aside, this neighborhood throws you into traditional Shanghainese life without taking you too far away from the city center. Some of the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.
