I went there for the first time with a friend for dinner because he had received 2 vouchers. We each ordered one of the set menus (unfortunately I can't remember which one we got). Even without the vouchers, the set menus were rather affordable considering the amount of food and having it prepared right in front of you. We received... More

The place is a bit hard to find, hidden in a corner street, but it's really worth giving it a try. The food is very good indeed and not too expensive. We had the 3-persons menu for two adults and two kids and it was more than enough. The space is limited, I remember seing only three big tables where... More

I have freequented Sunny Temppanyaki for over 10 years now. Cheif Lester Li and his staff never fails to deliver excellent food and service. Each entree is prepared seperately and served with flligant flair. But the taste is the #1 reason I return every yeay. A wide variety of selections and SET courses on the menu but I strongly recomment... More

We were on a two week tour of China and Shanghai was our last stop. We had been subjected to many sub-standard, tour arranged meals. So this meal came as a very pleasant surprise. The food was delicious and the staff members were very helpful.

Just dined at Sunny Teppanyaki since I was staying at the Hilton Shanghai and it was a short 5 minute walk away. On a Monday night the place was empty at 7pm so I enjoyed prompt seating and highly attentive service. The quality and quantity of food was well worth the price (from 118 CYA (~20 US$) to around 200... More

When I go to Sunny Teppanyaki, it feels like I'm visiting at a good neighbor's house. Coming from a far away country (USA) this feeling is especially appreciated. The food is great! Chef Li holds court at his grill in the right hand corner of the restaurant. He is always pleasant and engaging. Even if you land at one of... More

I rarely give an Excellent rating. I first discovered Sunny Teppanyaki 11 years ago. I make a business trip to Shanghai 3 -4 times a year and it is always my first and last stop. The food is prepared in a gourmet style flair using a teppanyaki grill with each course served one at a time. Every dish is excellent.... More

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
