If Trip Advisor had a 2.5 star option we would use it here. Cote is ok, but should be so much better. The Ham Pizza and Salad were decent, though we found everything, including the drinks, too expensive. The atmosphere is typical for the area; cute French cafe style. We left with a bit of an attitude from the lone... More

Just ordered 4 pizza's during dinner time with 4 friends. We were attracted by the neighbourhood, and found this attractive looking pizza place. One of my friends ordered a pizza with a French name. When it arrived the pizza was half in half, with on one side only tomato sauce, and on the other only cheese and some anchovies. When... More

Was today here and very disappointed. The advertisment promises the best pizza in town (2012). Pizza with anchovies was having just one tiny little spot of fish, the pizza also was flooded with oil and not very tasty. For a price of about 40 EUR /300 RMB for two pizzas and two orange juices rediculous.

Last weekend I stopped by A Cote with some friends for dinner. I've been trying to do the whole Paleo thing lately so was disappointed to wee that the menu had very limited salad options, pizza is clearly the star here. We each ordered a different pizza, I had the Royale – a selection of cheese, olives (with the pit!),... More

Nice Pizza and Beer in a very quaint area tucked in the back. Can not bee seen from the street. The main address on the street shows 338 for another restaurant , but walk around the hedge and you will see the 336 location. Great service and very good food. A nice find in the french concession.

Tucked away in the Ferguson Lane complex on Wukang in the depths of Xuhui, this is one of the few French outlets in the complex which are not "F" branded. Having been a repeat visitor for lunch and occasionally dinner, I can only bow to the quality of execution and service, both before and after they expanded the premises. I'm... More

The pizza here is fresh and baked in a wood fired oven. Pizza is delicious and restaurant environment is very nice and scenic. Look at the picture. Nice to come during lunch in weekdays as it is empty and quiet.

Typically French pizzas, hard to find anywhere else in Shanghai: wood fire oven, super thin crust, emmental toppings. Simple menu but we love it

This is a gourmet pizzeria, in the new and well hidden Ferguson Lane. The menu and drink selection is limited, but quality is very good, with fresh ingredients at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is cosy and quite homely. Also able to sit outside alfresco. It is a small restaurant though. But the good thing is that it is still... More

Staying in Former French Concession

Neighbourhood Profile
Former French Concession
While there are technical borders to the area formerly governed by the French in Shanghai, the "French Concession" of today is an amorphous neighborhood that is a favorite of the city's foreign residents. While it is mostly within the Xuhui district, residents will sometimes include parts of Jing'an and Luwan in their mental maps of the Former French Concession. The area seems frozen in time, characterized by quiet, tree-lined avenues, French-style villas, interesting boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes that are not typical of China. All of these mix and mingle with local life as Chinese markets and lanehouse communities are peppered throughout. Denizens of the Former French Concession can spectate a mahjong game on the street or get their bike checked at a tiny bike repair store on the way to their refurbished apartment tucked away among Chinese family homes.
