Haagen-Daz is expensive in China. It's good quality ice cream but, like many western things, it is expensive. So if you are craving ice cream, be prepared to pay! Most ice creams are around $10US

We sat down at the table place wasn't to busy and after ten minutes we didn't even get a menu or got served so ended up walking out and across the road to diary queen or something named along that way . Very disappointing as they could really do well here just goes to show get the wrong staff or... More

The shop is very clean and beautifully decorated. The Service is adequate to good. However, this small shop, located in an extremely busy tourist shopping center, is always crowded. One has to block the noise and the crowds out in order to enjoy the treats.

A very tiny outlet and you need to stand around and grab seats as people leave. A good place to take a break and watch the hustling outside the window. Price is international standard.

We enjoy our icecreams wherever we travel. This was a hot day with lots of walking & we especially looked forward to this one. I selected chocolate, which tasted not like any chocolate I'd had before. That night, I spent in the hotel bathroom violently ill - yes from the chocolate icecream. I was told later that chocolate is not... More

Poor / bad services, especially at Xintiendi branch. I and my girl friend walked inside and asked "do they accept VISA card(we showed the card)" , they double checked and said "yes" so we sat down and order ice cream banana split and a cup of coffee. The coffee taste very light (watery) and ice cream took so LONG! What... More

The ice-cream here is so delicious with very good service and a nice ambient to the place, the only thing that bothers me a bit is that if you are sitting next to the window, you get many Chinese people looking through the window as it is a very expensive. the other thing is that the ice-cream takes a while... I came here a few days ago with my friend to celebrate the end of our stay in China. We had known all along that Haagen Dazs was specialty/gourmet here, so we saved up some money for this trip. We sat at a high top and looked through the extensive, decadent dessert choices. I opted for a banana split and... More

We tried to work our way through the collection but ran out after the third visit. It is a visit to remember forever - and forever to get rid of the calories. The two of us could not get through the big round chocolate version. I'm so disappointed that I can't find the same ice cream anywhere else in the... More

Stopped by and had a rather decadent double scoop of ice cream with two toppings. There's cheaper ice-cream out there, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better premium ice cream than Häagen-Dazs. The restaurant inside is pleasant, with friendly and efficient staff, and this makes for a nice break on the way to or from the Yu Gardens.... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Shanghai’s original walls live on in the curve of the streets that serve as the border to the old city. An aerial view shows a clear circular outline and parts of the original wall are preserved as monuments to the ancient past. The main tourist attraction of Yuyuan (which means Yu garden, though it is often redundantly referred to as Yuyuan Garden) draws hordes of tourists every day, but wandering the streets around the complex reveals more exciting attractions such as food and antique markets. There are also streets lined with shops peddling everyday wares such as Chinese dining ware and craft notions that can be even more enticing to visitors uninterested in the usual tourist fare.
