We visited Pesquería da Limonta before departing for our flight, and holy cow!! The best seafood and cheesecake we’ve probably ever had. A must visit to either start or end your trip in Costa Rica. Our server was Fabio and he was fabulous. The chef...even came to say hello and give recommendations! Absolutely incredible service and food.
We had the fried whole sea bass served with shrimp, whole grilled sea bass, and Oreo cheesecake!More
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night, on our way back to the airport. We were pleasantly surprised by the amazing and top quality service we received by the waiter Daniel. Extremely professional and thoughtful. Food was also super tasty...and full of flavours.
Definitely a place to try if you visit San José. (Ask for Daniel!)More
After a long flight, took a short $10 cab from the airport to this delightful Pesqueria where the ceviche was fresh and the recommended seafood platter was cooked to perfection. Well worth the extra trip compared to airport food and can highly recommend. Everyone there...including our server Daniel on point as well.
Great start to our vacation!More
We were a large croup (8) all family (adult children) looking for a good meal. Daniel our server guided us well, the experience, exceptional.
We started with six different ceviche samplers and their incredibly dressed french fries - yum. (2 orders of the fries for...8)
I ordered the panko-crusted tuna, cooked medium, which was flavorful. It was pink on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Most of us ordered the tuna.
My wife and daughter in law ordered the grilled whole snapper which was amazing.
My sister in law had the shrimp risotto which was very tasty, yet rich.
We ordered the brownie with ice cream which was excellent.
We ate on this cute outside patio, covered, cozy. They had Christmas decorations up already - nice. The restaurant also let us kill a couple of left over new bottles of red wine that we brought for a all corkage fee, we also bought wine.
Excellent experience, highly recommended.More
So delicious! We ate every bite! The ceviche was a must and the fries!!!! We got a fish sampler that was so amazing and fun to try all flavors!!! We had the best service Daniel took such great care of us- we HIGHLY recommend this...place!!!More
We found this gem close to an airport hotel in Alajuela. A short taxi ride brought us to this warm and congenial setting. Our waiter, Fabio, was helpful and informative regarding our inquiries on what to order. The octopus is a standout. Our two apps...were a trio of ceviche and an interesting fries covered with coleslaw. Sounds strange, but sure was tasty. They have a nice wine selection as well.
Lots of local flavor, no pun intended!More
Pesqueria da Limonta lives up to the stellar ratings it receives. The dining area is essentially a covered patio, and it’s very cozy. The service is outstanding: courteous, knowledgeable and professional (and for those - like us - who aren’t fluent in Spanish Daniel was...happy to help in English).
But the food is the real star here. The menu is adventurous and focused - appropriately - on seafood. We started with two appetizers: Seared Yellow Fin Tuna Bruschetta and Jumbo Shrimp Carpaccio. Both were outstanding. The generous slices of tuna were spiced and seared to rare perfection, with very fresh tomatoes and a delicious house tartar sauce. The generous plate of shrimp was bathed in a flavourful olive oil-lemon juice dressing accented by delicious capers. So good.
For our mains we chose Robalo Dashi Confit (sea bass with vegetable medley) and Gallega Octopus with yucca. Again, portions are generous (you will not leave this place hungry) and the preparation is on point. The sea bass was delightfully juicy, and the vegetable medley was so tasty that it could have been a meal in itself. The octopus was charred and tender, with a lovely complexity of flavour imparted by a garlic butter with smoked sweet paprika, accompanied by garlic aioli.
Everything was complemented by a bottle of superb Sauvignon Blanc suggested by our server, and topped off with a shared piece of light, mouth-wateringly tasty coconut cheesecake.
The entire meal came to 78,000 colones ($170 CDN), tax and tip included. Great value for an outstanding experience. We highly recommend that you treat yourself to dinner here if you find yourself in San José.More
Para nosotros sería un honor; solo tome en cuenta que la reapertura será el día 13 marzo y el día 15 es el día de la inauguración y únicamente ese día no se podrá reservar.
Estoy a la orden.
