We passed by the restaurant on the way back to San Jose airport, and did not regret having to brave the traffic of Alajuela. The food was amazing!!! The prices are low too and the owner (I think) even helped us work out how to...More

Jalapenos Central is a small informal restaurant in Alajuela. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was tasty.

We braved the traffic from our hotel 3.4kms away and it was worth it. The place was cute with lovely staff and good food. The road it is in also had a nice vibe with some good hip shops.

Tortilla soup I can only dream of re-creating. We went to Jalapeños on a recommendation from our hotelier and we were not disappointed! Small, cozy place, staff very friendly.

We ordered the plantain dish off the "other" menu, which we thought to be more authentic Costa Rican. We found it to be very good, with guacamole, refried beans, salsa, with various options. Total for three people, with drinks, was under 16;000 colonnes.

Had the vegetable quesadilla lunch deal. The beans, rice and guacamole were the best bit (and were very good indeed!) whereas the veggies in the quesadilla were overly drenched in oil. Nice passion fruit juice thrown in - and so overall fine and inexpensive

Jalapeños was recommended by an employee of our hotel. Only a short and inexpensive Uber ride away. We enjoyed the food and the lively environment. I would recommend highly.

Over-lit flourescent lighting in a lunchenette atmosphere. Poor quality food - chicken poorly cooked and fish was simply awful
