The service was quick and friendly, and the food was great- especially the plantains! My fiancée and I are vegetarians and we enjoyed a breakfast of rice, beans and eggs here almost every morning. The prices here are really cheap, so if you're travelling on a budget I would really recommend it! Arenal has a lot of expensive tourist traps... More

Costa Rica is a very expensive country, even food in the supermarket was dear. But La Hormiga manages to keep prices low and the food was fresh and delicious, with fast service. The eggs were excellent and the chicken sandwich very tasty. Highly recommended. This place gets busy with locals which is always a good sign

I think this was the best food we had in Costa Rica, was recommended by David from Costa Rica drivers. We grabbed a few beers from the grocery store then ordered lunch, had the chicken Casado and it was delicious. I think for three of us the bill was like $11 USD. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a... More

Don't believe the Soda Viquez hype! They are just gaming the Trip Advisor reviews. If you want the REAL place with the best food per dollar in La Fortuna, make no mistake. La Hormiga is the spot. What you get for your money here is phenomenal. It's almost exactly half price of everywhere else in town, and it lacks the... More

Large table seated our party of 9. Drinks and meals were fairly fast and everyone was pleased. Fried plantains were a hit, veggie Casado was a miss.

This was the best meal that we ate during our 5 days in Costa Rica, and it was the cheapest too (by far)! The casados were excellent, and my friend and I enjoyed our carne and bistec. This place is authentic Costa Rica, and the service was fast. My friend also met a kitten she almost took home, which was... More

You can tell a place is good when it's packed with Ticos and tourists alike. Service is quick and efficient. Open breakfast and lunch only.

Sometimes, places by bus stations are good, sometimes not, but after reading the reviews and wanting some local food, not the gringo fare you get in the hotels, I made a point of finding this place. And it was good. I went for breakfast and can recommend the pinto (rice and beans) with eggs and perhaps some ham on the... More

Great food, great prices and fantastic service. My son ordered the wrong type of food and they replaced for him without question. We were staying at Tabacon and tired of expensive pricing at breakfast. We could have ate better at La Hormiga for the 3 days in la Fortuna, for the price of one family breakfast at Tabacon. If you... More
