We went there twice to have dinner while we were in Puerto Viejo. It isn´t an elegant restaurant or anything of the sort but the dishes are abundant and very, very good.It is also well served and very cheap for what you get.

This restaurant had the best Caribbean chicken in all of Puerto Viejo. My daughter got the porkchops which were also delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were good! There usually weren't many people eating in here but I don't know why, it was one of the best meals I ate in Puerto Viejo.

This was the best place to eat in Puerto Viejo, the flavor of the Rice and Beans, was by far better than Maxi's in Manzanillo, the coconut flavor was stronger and the Agua de Sapo was very good as well.

The food here tasted great - in fact, the best fish I had had so far In Costa Rica. BUT two days later, all twelve of us who ate at Restaurante Tamara became ill. The 5 people in our group who ate elsewhere remained healthy. The illness resulted in 4 people going to hospital, and lasted for everyone for at... More

What this place lacks in atmosphere & speed of service, it more than makes up for in taste! I highly recommend the gallo pinto with Caribbean chicken, Prepared with coconut milk in the traditional Caribbean method, the gallo pinto was the best I had (& I ate rice & beans in some form every day). Recommended by a local, it... More

Party of 3, hungry. The kitchen is more the tasty rural than the subtle gourmet style. As we were hungry this did not matter. Pattacones, however, too stuffy/starchy. Fish Filet with the gallo pinto and the beans paste was tasty. Recommended.

We splurged and got the big seafood platter, each of 4 fishes prepared in a different way. Two of these were so salty they were inedible. The other two were great. Service was very nice.

A 2 story restaurant in the heart of the main street, Speaking Spanish would have been helpful, but between a menu with pictures, and a staff eager to help we enjoyed a lunch typical of the area. The fruit drink was cold and thirst quenching - didn't know the name, but since most others seemed to enjoy it, we all... More

Great local food. Rice dishes are amazing. Salads are fresh. Beer is cold! Vegetarian rice gives you a great portion of sautéed veggies with rice and salad.
