A somewhat rustic and historic ambiance, not too busy on a Friday night while offering an undeniable pura vida atmosphere. The menu is not too extensivebut great. The food got the highest marks, especially churrasco and a very nice and juicy hamburger.

Churrasco with own chimichurri. The plate was ascetic. Only the beef and countryside french fries with badly cooked rice. No salsa, no salad. I asked salsa pimienta and the man brought me a cup of commercial chilero. Moreover highly overprized.

The view was nice but that was the only nice thing about Barba Roja. We had eaten here before covid and it was just mediocre food then, but now it is just very expensive rice and beans and expensive drinks. It is like they are...not even trying anymore because it is the same plain old rice and beans meal you can get anywhere, except for the very high prices. The supposedly fresh fish was definitely frozen, and I doubt it was even mahi mahi. Drinks are very expensive too. Seems it has become nothing but a tourist trap to clean out tourist's wallets. BTW. The description says live music, ladies' night, and karaoke, which must be a really old description because according to the staff they have not had any of that for years.More

Great view but horrible food and nonexistent service. This dirty old overpriced restaurant serves plain boring food at fine dining prices. . I would give it a 1 but the view was beautiful. Don’t don’t sit at the bar or the waitress will forget your...order and then be rude to you. Not worth it. Food was sooo cheap and bland that we were afraid to eat it. Got a great meal and drinks w a great view and friendly service at El Avion (the plane) the next day.More

They charged $14.00 a drink on a Monday night with only 4 other people in the place. Horrible. Please check your receipt. Do not allow this place to rip you off.

I only went there once when I was in the area of Manuel Antonio. I had the shrimp cocktail which was good. They have a two for one happy hours for the people that like to drink and relax. The music was loud but you...can still enjoy the scenery.More

It was raining in a last-minute decision to go there but the food and service was outstanding! We were the only one in the restaurant for a while and even though it was raining the view was outstanding.

Very nice setting with fabulous view. Caribbean Chicken & the daily special “Tuna” was spectacular! Had Ribeye which was way over cooked, and the hamburger was just ok ! Drinks were watered down as it was happy hour … really good table service. Overall, it...was good but not exceptional. But if you do go here , Caribbean Chicken is the ticketMore

We initially came because the menu had something for everyone. However no sushi was available at the time. The staff was friendly and polite. The food was great and flavorful. So good we went back again. Great atmosphere for lunch or dinner. I had the...Caribbean chicken. Both English and Spanish menu. So cool to hear and watch the Macaws while waiting for the food.More

Most of the tables have a great view, and there is a bar with a full view you could wait if they don't take reservations.
