I spend about 8 weeks a year in Quepos. Last time I went by La Cubanita it appeared to be closed and there was a For Sale (Se Vende) sign out front. This is not about Cuban food but is local fare with some seafood. I ate there once about two years ago and it was fine.

It's a small place, but the woman who runs it is great. We had a bit of a language barrier, but she doted on our young son. I had some good fried plantains with black beans, he enjoyed a good Casado. We both really enjoyed the fruit beverage (Caz / Cas fruit) and would highly recommend. We went back another... More

Perhaps we went on an off day or didn't order the correct items, because I'm confused by the glowing reviews. The restaurant was dirty and unkempt (and I've eaten at tons of hole in the wall joints), not to mention the bathroom situation. My friends ordered the chicken quesadillas, arroz (rice), and frijoles (beans). I ordered the arroz con mariscos... More

This is a little four table place on the edge of the downtown. The young lady serving us ( I would assume a family member) was very nice. We had a nice casado with fish. The highpoint was the guacamole. It was the best I ever had. It came with fried plantain chips that were also great.

When you are looking for local seafood in Quepos and the Manuel Antonio area, this is the place to go. The prices are very reasonable, and the couple that runs the place are very friendly. I really liked the seafood soup and the seafood with rice. I will continue going to this local restaurant. I have not found any other... More

On first glance, this place doesn't even really look like a restaurant, and it's on a pretty deserted street, but looks can be deceiving. We had great, generously sized meals in delicious sauces, with accompaniments of our choice. I recommend 'coco loco' - king prawns breaded with coconut. We have been to several towns in Costa Rica over the last... More

Just went to la Cubanita in Quepos with my large family with teens and young kids. They welcomed the 9 of us with attentive service. We had a variety of casados, fajitas, and shrimp and chips. All food is prepared fresh, so don't expect a 10 minute meal. The owner and his wife showed up to help the nice señorita... More

Jonathan knows everything there is to know about Quepos. He is your go to guy for questions. He makes a great breakfast, which is what we mostly ate there. Everything we ate was wonderful. All meals are made from scratch, including the Eggs Benedict. If the three stools in the front are filled, there is a room in the back.... More
