We live in Grahamstown and this is one of our favorites. Probably one of the lest known gems in Grahamstown. It is reminiscent of old style dining. The food is always good - fine wine list and not over priced. You will not be disappointed.

We have not been here for lunch for a while. We were the only patron's and the lunch menu was really uninspiring, our choice of venison pie was not available so we were offered the dinner menu. We both choose steak Diane. The large piece of fillet was cooked to perfection but my blue cheese sauce was bland and the... More

If you want some fine dining and a special night out, or a treat during the festival, then do go here. This little gem is perhaps not in the best spot in town, but is of historic interest, beautifully restored and makes up for its position in character, refurbishment, food and service. From the moment I made the booking I... More

Had dinner here two nights and each time enjoyed the fare...lamb shank that melts off the bone and steak Diane perfectly prepared...it's rather surprising given the hotel in which the restaurant is situated, however, it is good dinner food, not fancy but well-prepared and flavorful.

Brilliant food, though at Joburg prices for a small town- it is worth it. Try make a reservation for earlier as their specials sell out and are the highlight for me. Good wine list with some real bargains. Have a drink in the bar first, it is quaint and the bartender is very welcoming. Good fireplace and service and nice... More

The service was brilliant - really going the extra mile for me. And the food was delicious. You do pay for what you get, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Had a delicious mean at the historic Norden's. The service was excellent and the fillet steak exceptional. Definitely, for me, the best Restuarant in Grahamstown. Have eaten there over many years when in Grahamstown and they have kept up the quality. The site has great historical significance. The Cock House was built on the land granted in 1826 to Benjamin... Some reviews talk of small portions and I thought it would be a case of quality over quantity but it wasn't. Main courses were very average considering their simplicity and carpaccio starter was buried in the salad. The apple and pear crumble dessert saved the meal. Service was friendly and quick.

The food was different and very good. We had friends who are very into their food with us and they loved it. The building is lovely and the ambience is great. Its a little quiet but thats not a bad thing. There is a bar but we never had a drink in the bar first. I look forward to going... More

Firstly, this place is not kiddie friendly. We found the portions small and not good value for money. My wife did not enjoy her lamb shank as it lacked flavour. I had a number of expensive starters as my main meal due to a limited menu. They do not offer a plate of chips and I am vegetarian. The kids did... More

A national monument which hast hosted many Dignatories in its time including Nelson Mandela. Fantastic food made with fresh ingredients. Lovel spot for a special mean. Reasonably priced.
