We had been told by a friend that this was the best restaurant in Cape Town, and by our experience they were right. It's not too far from the center of town and easy to get to by cab. The service was outstanding, with the server explaining everything in a most knowledgable way. I started with Wild Oysters that were... More

I feel it is difficult to give a fair review to a restaurant when in reality it did not agree with me in terms of its overall style. This is a fine dining restaurant and my feeling is that it is trying too hard. Apart from being expensive (for South Africa) - which is not uncommon in Cape Town -... More

There is not much to say other than this being an absolute must during your visit. The food is exceptional. We did the 5 courses wine paired tasting menu and had a wonderful experience. This was the second time we visited, and while the wine pairings were not as impressive as the first time we visited, I would not hesitate... More

The service and food were excellent! We started with a bubbly and some appetisers. We ordered Sea food, meat dishes and more local wine to go with our dinner. Very enjoyable evening and highly recommended.

The best part of our meal was the sommelier (can't remember his name, but he was from Durban). He inquisitively asked us about what we like, and what we ordered, and recommended the perfect wines to accompany our fantastic meal. Of course, the service and food were excellent as well. We enjoyed the Spring Bok and Ostrich steak, but the... More

We went out for lunch here on a hot day. Evenings are all booked weeks in advance. We had one of our best lunches in Cape Town. After a good glass of bubbles, we had the bisque and the grilled fish. For mains we had pork (really nice) and the rabbit three ways (still don't know what was the third... More

Full booking, but accepted at the Bar!.. Very nice "bienvenue" without booking, between the service which was very busy..i order just a plate of cheese and a fondant au chocolat with 3 wonderful glass of wine: the Aubergine Riesling 2015, fresh and crispy, the light and delicat Eenzaamheid Cinsault and to finish the fortified dessert wine Overgauw 1995 perfect with... We had been booked the degustation menu (three courses with wine pairing) at L'Aubergine by the travel agency and came with rather high expectations. The taxi driver immediately knew where we were going, which confirmed our feeling we were headed for a well-known restaurant. Our visit also started off well. Stepping out of the taxi, we were welcomed by friendly... More

Food was perfectly cooked and presented well in a lovely setting with well spaced tables. The sommelier restored our faith in chenin blanc, just that there are so many cheap ones in the market place and have always avoided that grape variety. A Beaumont was delightful, as to was his suggestions for some reds that married up well with our... More

Good start to our gastronomic trip to South Africa. We had the Tasting Menu with paired wines. The standout dish was the Springbok, amazing. However, the fish course was disappointing. Wines were lovely with lots of information from the charming sommelier. Unfortunately the table height was low and meant our knees were jammed in!
