We arrived late for dessert, with the tables at the front of house closing down at the end of the business day. We sat in the reception lounge area of the hotel, where we received prompt attention and service, and enjoyed a well made pannacotta and crème brulee. A quaint and unusual environment, and well trained professional staff on the... More

Great setting, with good coffee. Comfortable, warm environment that gives a feeling of holiday. Beautiful décor and affordable selection of eats. Would have love to try the Butternut Cheesecake though!

I had a fantastic experience at The Island Cafe, our waitress Vivian was excellent and very attentive. The atmosphere was superb, the ambiance created by the old turbine machinery still on the restaurant floor is one of nostalgia and wonder. The deco is truly fabulous, little details and attention paid to the chairs all being different is an example of... More

Our waitress was terrible . Got the order wrong and had zero personality. Very disappointing. The floors were also grubby and empty tables hadn't been cleared.

Dear Matthew I am very disappointed that our waitress was terrible, got your order wrong and had zero personality. This must have been her "off" day. We apologise for the inconvenience caused, this is not the norm. I have addressed the clearing of tables and general cleanliness during service. Yours in Hospitality, Chris More

Admittedly, we were a large group (10) and hadn't booked but they weren't busy. They clearly attend to hotel guests long before any attention is placed on outside eaters. Took forever for a table - we started moving tables and chairs around ourselves! However, food was good when it arrived - eventually. Even the coffee took forever. Plenty of other... More

This charming restaurant is close to our accommodation on Thesen Island. We sat outside and enjoyed a decent cup of coffee in front of one of the canals. The service was quick and efficient. My salmon and rocket open omelette was delicious. The breakfast voucher from our hotel was for ZAR 90 each and more than met our meal and... More

We visited on a late Sunday afternoon, without a booking, when it was very quiet and then sat in the bar area having walked through the restaurant area to the pub end past the old turbines. We hadn't realised it's part of the Turbine hotel as we came in from the back. A unique setting with some quirky additional designs... More

We were seated next to the old steam turbine in this converted power plant. The décor was very interesting and original. The service and food were excellent. Highly recommended!

Had a brunch here, i have not had such slow and inefficient service in a long time. The do benefit from the captive audience of the hotel. There is one staff member who seems to know what they are doing the rest are just wandering around aimlessly keeping busy. The food was actually OK, but simple food took an hour... More

Our supper for four was a bit disappointing. Service was quite slow and waiters seemed either disorganised or untrained. If a manager was on duty we never saw one. Food was very tasty and well presented BUT arrived on cold plates and food partially warm, partially cold. Considering the five star prices charged at this restaurant this certainly should not...
