A very nice place with fresh food and homemade pastas and meals. The meat look delicious even if I haven't tried it. The ambiance is authentic and super friendly. If you don't have a reservation, you may come early (noon) because from 1:30PM you may have to wait a bit for a table. We walked out very satisfied! :-)

For some reasons I haven't been able to visit this restaurant earlier. Maybe because some people said things about La Boca not being save. Anyhow, it is save and should definitely go there. As a soccer aficionado you will like the decor. Secondly, the parilla was great and the staff were very friendly. They were very helpful with our children... More

We went there for lunch. It's 15min walk from la boca tourist area but worth it. The restaurant souvenirs are amazing and tell the past 50years of ba sports. The pasta and the beef with a salads were very good. On of the best value of food you can get during your stay in BA

My friends took me here on my first night in BA. Located in the neighborhood of La Boca, El Obrero is known as a "bodegón" style restaurant, meaning it's not fancy but the food is superb. The menu offers AM array of choices, including meat, pasta, pizza, and a great selection of local wines. If you want an authentic Argentinian... More

This is the first review I have ever written on any site, such was my disappointment with my food this evening. I should add that the table service was great, and the wine great value. It also has a lovely atmosphere. However, when you specifically ask for your steak 'jugoso', and it comes out well done, and the 'stew' is... More

We wanted to try the famous Argentinian meat and we did it at El Obrero. Food was excellent and it is not expensive. It is not close to the City center but the trip to the place is worth it.

Maybe my expectations were too high. Neat atmosphere ,nice service ,interesting football stuff but the real reason you come here is for the food namely the beef. It was good but not great. Had better beef in other places. So a bit of a disappointment .We tried but not necessary to take a taxi there, bit of a dodgy area so... More

Went on a weeknight. Great atmosphere but from a food stand point it was a disappointment. Steaks were over cooked and needed to be sent back. Sides were just ok. Noticed many locals were eating fish not meat. Prices were reasonable, portions were good. It just didn't live up to its hype.

Staying in La Boca

Neighbourhood Profile
La Boca
A neighbourhood defined by its immigrant roots, La Boca still maintains this past alive in its streets today. Due to its proximity to the river, the neighbourhood became the preferred settling area for immigrants of a wide variety of origins, who ended up living together in the conventillos. Thus, these houses became a melting pot of different cultures and traditions that birthed creations like tango and lunfardo. Nowadays, this legacy can be seen and felt on Caminito Street, which welcomes visitors with colourful facades, cobblestones, and street artists showcasing their skills. Just like its neighbor San Telmo, La Boca is one of the prime destinations to experience the traditions and customs that originated from the city’s immigrant past and which have shaped its distinct identity.
