Home-made, fresh, delicious, authentic, big portions... All the attributes you want to hear out of an Italian restaurant, Il Fiume has them! Just go and, weather permitting, sit "al fresco."

I was out with my mother looking for a place to catch a few drinks and had outdoor seating. We walked up on this place and found it to be very nice in appearance and my mom likes wine so Italian was a good choice. When we arrived the place was 15% occupied and there were still three tables open... More

This is a nice option of italian food in Puerto Madero. The restaurant is nice and cozy, the staff is friendly and the food is always great. I have been there several times and never got disappointed. They have a nice wine list. Prices are ok.

Pros - clean modern good location excellent desserts, service good, cons - menu is only in Italian, no english language menu, and need more menu choices. They bring lots of bread but to go with the bread they bring a small dish with some type butter or sauce for the bread, but only a tablespoon of it, not near enough... More

The place looks nice at first glance, but it soon turns terrible due to the incredibly poor service. Food is, at most, poor, lacking all its flavor. We had to pour our own wine, our own water, the cutlery was handed to us...just absolutely terrible. NOT RECOMMENDED at all

I reviewed this restaurant in March 2010 as great but we were there in May 2013 and it was a huge disappointment. The quality of the food was terrible. The mozzerella in our caprese salad was hard and tasted spoiled. We couldn't eat any of it. My husband's fruita de mare risotto was passable but several years ago he had... More

Unpretentious restaurant in a very good location. Excellent pasta. We recommended it !!! We had a pasta and a very good, just grilled salmon. The price is ok for such a restaurant and the location.

Dropped in after a long day touring BA since this restaurant is close to our hotel. Must say that I was rather disappointed. Our young waiter had very rudimentary English skills and was of little help with the menu (only available in Italian and Spanish). While I am sure there had to be someone else on the wait staff with... More

Staying in Puerto Madero

Neighbourhood Profile
Puerto Madero
From its refurbished red brick buildings and port cranes to its modern skyscrapers and luxurious apartment buildings, Puerto Madero is the perfect combination of old and new. The river provides a quiet, relaxing atmosphere that contrasts with the hustle and bustle of heavy traffic just blocks away. Across the river, flanked by skyscrapers, are beautiful parks and quiet streets that make this neighbourhood a unique destination in a city as busy as Buenos Aires. The restaurants, bars, and nightclubs on the docks make it a prime spot for nights out and have come to symbolise this area. Puerto Madero is even more striking after dark, when the lights from the docks and skyscrapers glow against the night sky.
