La Biela is a very old classic in Recoleta Buenos Aires. This restaurant is 70 years old, located in the corner of avenida Quintana with the best outside sitting in the city under spectacular gigantic trees. This place is visited by locals, famous people and tourist alike. If you are in Recoleta you must stop here for a coffe or... More

We came across this cafe on the first day in Buenos Aires and enjoyed the experience and service. We returned, another day after visiting the famous cemetery, near by, on a hot Saturday. A cold Imperial beer was very enjoyable and a member of our party concurred that the coffee was also good. It was, so relaxing to just sit... More

Recoleta is probably one of the nicest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, if you want to stop for an aperitif of a quick meal, don't miss La Biela, with its "old style" feeling, yet cozy and familiar. Recommended

This is a great place to go and meet with friends have a coffee with croissants, have lunch and enjoy seating outside under umbrellas and majestic rubber trees. It gives you a good look at the portenos lifestyle. The atmosphere is wonderful specially on weekends, food not that great.

Located across the street from the main entrance of another iconic landmark, the Recoleta Cemetery, this a place not to miss. Good sandwiches, and on weekends a window to the parade of all sorts of people. For some, worth the high prices; for others, at least worth walking around on the way to see the EVITA burial site.

We ate and drank at La Biela twice during our recent stay in BA. This has a great location with plenty of outdoor seating with tables that have umbrellas for shade. This is a wonderful place to eat, have a drink, and people watch in the Recoleta district of Buenos Aires. Actually, our breakfast was great and better than our... More

Pleasant location. We sat outside and ordered a beer and a sandwich. Don't bother. Beer was flat when poured into the glass The sandwich was an inch thick slab of turkey with a red pepper on top on dry bread. Disappointing.

Really traditional coffee shop in the heart of Recoleta. Themed by a car part (La biela) has impeccable service, with higher price then regular places but it is worth the Visit. If you sit outside price are higher (😒).

The four of us were able to locate the only available table under the far-reaching rubber tree branches hanging over the terrace of La Biela. Since both the interior and exterior spaces were crowded on this lovely Sunday afternoon, we thought we could not go wrong. Why would so many people come here if it was not good? My friend... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighbourhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterised by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighbourhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centred on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
